Futurama - "Decision 3012" (Episode with Obama and "birther" References.)

Okay so I watched the episode tonight and was rather surprised that they made some interesting references to Obama.

Episode Synopsis: Leela becomes a campaign manager for a presidential candidate whose birth certificate is missing. Richard Nixon runs for Earth presidency yet again in the 3012 presidential elections. His opponent's legitimacy is called into question when he is incapable of providing an 'Earth Certificate' to prove that he is of Earthly origins.

Ok, so they brought back Nixon to "Kick him around", granted the Nixon jokes are getting old, but every time I think I Nixon I curse as he created the EPA.

The plot was essentially there was a senator "Travers" from Hawaii who was running for president for Earth and didn't have a "Earth Certificate"

At one point Nixon has Bender break into Traver's campaign HQ to get some "dirt" on him. He digs in a file cabinet and finds "Harvard Transcripts" (which is Ironic considering that Obama has not shown us HIS transcripts. Also what was funny was that they make a reference later on that "He got into Harvard....(pause)... Somehow...". I found that Hilarious as it showed that someone in the show production has doubts on the whole "fairy tale" that is Obama and the dubious funding of his higher education.

They actually have the analogue of Obama being Born in Kenya, and a Senator from Hawaii. However the twist is that the Senator is actually from the future and is actually going to be born tomorrow. Earlier in the episode one of the "rednecks" says that the only proof they would accept would be if they could see his birth live, and thus later on they actually get to witness his birth. He was actually sent from the future to prevent Nixon from building a "southern border Dyson half sphere" which leads to Bender in the future ruling earth with an Iron/Dolomite fist.

On the "southern rednecks" that are protesting outside senator Traver's office to have hims show them his "Earth Certificate" Leela calls them Red Necks and Travers says they shouldn't be a bigots and insists that they call them not "red necks" but instead should call them "Yokels". This is a funny illustration of the condescension that the Politically Correct class has when dealing with people they deem undesirable. Instead of using a old pejorative, they simple use another one, but it is still a pejorative.

There is also a scene where Bender has Ruth Bader Ginsburg in his chest cavity and she confirms that in order to be president of earth you have to born on earth. This was downright bizarre, as we all have a pretty good idea where she would stand. They take a cheap shot at a Palin type character whose only line is "in Alaska we have a saying" during the "Thundercrats" 3012 debates. They also frame the whole illegal immigrant argument wrong saying that we actually need the cheap immigrant labor and without it we would need to eat the "Soylent Majority", but they don't differentiate between illegal vs. legal immigrants very well at all.

The episode ends with the Senator getting elected (since everyone saw his Birth in Kenya) he is eligible to be the Earth's president. Of course since he is a time traveler he winks out of existence as his reason for being there was nullified when Nixon lost and thus with his non-existence, Nixon wins unopposed by a "Slim Landslide".

I felt this was a backhanded way of them saying that they all kinda just want Obama to slip into non-existence....

Anyone here watch it? What did you think?

Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, once wrote a huge rant about what a criminal Nixon was and how glad he was Nixon died. I still watch his shows, but I wouldn’t spit on him if he was on fire.

Well, it's so good to know, here on the eve of your actual shooting war, that some folks still have a sense of humor.

Then Groening should be shouting at the top of his lungs about what a crook and liar Teleprompter Kid has turned out to be. Will he be glad if he is around to see Obama die? Probably not. He’s a hypocrite just like the other Hollywood libtards.

Gadzooks! They pay me to act as a movie star... not make political policy--

But if they let me make political policy... I'd just get us cancelled again by those Third Coast Libheads!

And with my bar bill... you know I cannot do that.
