While Democrats campaigned for their vaunted health care plan, Obama repeatedly said "If you like the plan you have now, you will be able to keep that plan". Every time he said it, I couldn't help but notice that he NEVER mentioned what would happen to the price of that plan. He stopped short of saying, "Oh, you can keep it all right, but you'll have to pay a lot more for it". The accompanying link tries to convince us that the rise isn't real ("don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain, just listen to what we tell you"). It insists that Republicans are just evil naysayers; that the real reason premiums were rising was the increase in health care costs. Not! Did anyone really believe them when they said their benevolent legislation could save families $2,500 in the coming years?
1st renewel after obamacare passed went up 40%...the 2nd go around was another 17%...i pay more each week for insurance for myself and little girl than i do in taxes....
Our health insurance premiums have doubled since Obamacare was instituted.
According to my eldest who is BC/BS it has. He is in KY and they cannot turn him down as he is a type 2 diabetic. It is under control, and he has lost all but 10 lbs of the weight that was the major cause of it.. but the PN in hands and feet are there forever and he is like me, not able to take their side effect riddled anti seizure drugs for the pain.
Also, I forgot to mention that my prescriptions all DOUBLED as well.
I wonder if the people who are the recipients of this further and expanded access to benefits (also provided to them by working Americans) would like to demonstrate a little gratitude for what they are NOW receiving over and above their ALREADY quite generous benefits.
For example: They could show their gratitude by practicing a little political open-mindedness.
WHY should they do this?
Well, because a group of people smart enough and hard working enough to afford (for now) FREE benefits to LOSERS ought to be smart enough to come up with some OTHER and BETTER ideas (possibly ideas which would lift you out of your indolence and squalor) if you would just listen and co operate once in a while!!!! (I am being sarcastic here. There is nothing SMART about subsidizing dependence of any kind!)

Yes!!! Quite a bit. Employer said it had to do with obammacare.
When I was in the ER for a medical emergency earlier this month, a man came in with a cut hand that needed stitches, long wait 2 hrs..he went to the Minor Med down the street...they DO NOT TAKE CIGNA. So he had to come back and wait and bleed until they had time for him. Good thing it was not a major blood vessel.
It took nearly 2 hrs for me to be seen and I was in pain the whole time. SLOW, SLOW is how they work today.
Last time when hubby had a BP spike, there was a teen girl having a food related reaction, she was swallowing her tongue....and they got in no hurry to get her help. Slow in helping hubby too, he’s 72. This is a small hospital with a small ER. Larger ones are even worse.
We are in the worse ins shape of all Americans we both are Medicare/Tricare Life. Both are RATIONED health ins. And pay the provider about .10 cents on the $. And you don’t know if and when they will pay the provider.
Mine has not.
Yep...about 25%. I also do not expect it to come down in my lifetime even if obamacare is stuck down.
In short we all got f....
I work in health insurance.
My companies premiums averaged an increase of about 6%/year over the last decade; in the fall of 2010 they went up 21%.
Two months after the first set of Obamacare laws were implemented, we took a 38% pay cut. This was due to Obamacare increasing the loss ratios on insurers, which forces them to spend more and make less. I have colleagues that have had to leave the industry altogether and start over in a new career, as they are no longer able to support their families.
Obamacare is about one thing: the control and eventual destruction of the health insurance industry.
Obama can FOAD. He deserves an ass kicking for what he has done to my family and tens of thousands of families like mine.
That’s $10.00/month
I agree with you. The problems in healthcare are not driven by greedy health insurance companies. If they were making windfall profits why are their stocks some of the worst investments going?
TORT reform and medicine patent reform are two keys to beginning the process in health care reform. Obamacare did neither. Obamacare was intented to be the beginning of socialized medicine.
Thanks, Robin Hood-in-Thief.
2004 was the last year I had to buy my own insurance. I paid $112/month for a Blue Cross/Shield PPO policy, fully loaded. That policy went to $250 by 2007 and is now $325.
Gone up? Yes. And after I pointedly asked about rates rising and getting an emphatic “no”.
One quirk though: consenting to an annual “health screening” gets a non-trivial discount. I suppose they know price increases are...irritating...so they’re scrambling to find any way to cut costs, and voluntary gathering of private data helps.
Town Hall meetings this summer? Hmmm! You sure would think so. The voting public is more engaged than ever before. Do you think Republicans are afraid to hold town halls because they know we will come asking tough questions and even (gasp) demanding answers?
