A waitress at a California outpost of Chili's has been fired for posting an angry rant on Facebook threatening to spit in the food and the faces of poor-tipping diners.
The mystery woman took to the social networking website to vent her outrage after a customer racked up a check worth $138 at the restaurant but only tipped her $5 or 3.6 per cent, according to the Daily Dot.
Letting off steam, the server, who appears to have worked at the Chili's in Pleasanton, wrote on her Facebook page: 'Next time you tip me $5 on a $138 bill, don't even bother coming in cause I'll spit in your food and then in your f****ing face you cheap b*****ds!!!!!!!!!!'
The restaurant chain confirmed on Wednesday that a young woman had been let go for 'violating social media guidelines', but refused to detail which social media rules were broken or how Chili's found out about her abusing rant.

I’m glad I eat at home pretty much exclusively.
either she’s have to remember you, or she’d have to be clarivoyant. don’t you tip AFTER the meal?
Everyone needs to watch the movie “Waiting”. Another tip (no pun intended), Never, ever send your food back and say it’s not cooked right...
My mother tips like this. She is in another world.
I always sneak back and lay in the rest of the tip so the waiter/waitress will think kindly of us.
25 years experiance in food and beverage tells me thats hogwash. Items are sent back all the time for many reasons. This generaly upsets no one. However if you send it back 3 or 4 times....
I don’t know what to think of this one. I don’t want anyone spitting in my food obviously and that isn’t a proper response to a poor tip. But I suspect she was just blowing off steam at diners who are cheap and rude (and there are a lot of them). Its true that wait-staff depends on tips as part of their income, not as an extra. So I’d be angry too if I was working a big table and got a small tip, unless I screwed something up.
I guess overall I probably would not have fired this girl, but instead told her that Facebook is not the place to be blowing off steam about cheap customers.
I agree with you - to a point.
I make decent money, and have empathy towards waiters and waitresses especially if they appear to be overowrked in a crowded place and are nice and professional and especially if we get into conversation and they are putting themselves though college or raising kids alone, etc...
And I tip BIG because I like to think they were happy when they found it, and it made their day nicer, especially if they made mine nicer.
But I NEVER tip bad service or rude behavior, and I write in a big fat ZERO and a note explaining why.
Yes, of course. This was the first clue to her being clueless?
And when did 20% become the tip rate? It has gone from 10% to 15% to 20% now? I agree to pay for service but 20% margins sound like a pretty high cut to me. This means that the wait staff owns the equivalent of 20% of the gross of the restaurant? Good business with no overhead in my book. This is owner type margins for little or no risk.
oh- and this waitress appears to be in the rude behavior category...
How they behave after an honest mistake can actually earn points with me.
I once gave a poor girl a $20 tip on a $40 check after she spilled soup all over me, just because she was so horrified and apologetic and sweet and nice about it afterwards.
I felt so sorry for her- and I even talked to the manager before I left saying what a nice waitress whe was, she tripped because it was someomne else’s fault and not to fire her or anything.
“Isn’t a $5.00 tip at Chili’s OVER tipping?”
Did you forget the sarc tag, just askin? That sounds like a lot of food and service. For good service the tip used to be 15%. It’s probably close to 20% now.
She does appear (in this tiny photo) to be NOT GUITY though
Worst Tippers
1) A certain race of people who cannot be named for risk of being called 'racist'
2) Teachers
I guess overall I probably would not have fired this girl....

Seriously? This idiot waitress deserved to be fired. Her childish profane rants on facebook are probably a mirror image of the type of poor service she provided her customer. And even if she did provide them with quality service, she still acted like an idiot on her facebook and that reflected poorly on her and her employer.
The higher the percentage of bill that’s tip the more they work for us not the restaurant. Which is good in my book.
i would tend to agree with you, however... someone with this kinda of temper would always end up guilty anyway...
The story says she was fired because she violated the company’s social media guidelines. I.e., she was already told that FB isn’t the place to blow off steam.
It’s appalling how utterly STUPID some social media users are. I see it regularly with younger relatives, younger friends, and even on occasion with a contemporary. What ARE they thinking?
That is a real key for me -- people have to be putting effort into it and working hard. I have kids selling things door to door and if they appear ambitious and are putting some effort into it, I usually buy something from them even if I don't want it. However, if a parent comes to my house and asks me to buy something on behalf of their kid, I tell them to send the kid over. Same with waiters and waitresses. If they are working their way through school or trying hard, I generally tip well. Same in my business. I generally give people extra chances if they screw up as long as they are hard workers and don't loaf. People sometimes don't realize how critical it is that they appear to be good, hard workers, and how much good will they can get if they appear to be.
I would assume a work associate ratted on her.
