Pop star Carrie Underwood should take her own advice, which she provided in one of her top hits, and let Jesus Take the Wheel.
In an interview with the London Independent, Underwood, an American Idol winner who professes to be a follower of Jesus, expressed her passionate support for same-sex marriage.
Heres some of what she had to say about that:
I dont know what its like to be told I cant marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I cant imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.
She said she attends a gay friendly church and doesnt believe she has the right to judge anyone. Above all, God wanted us to love others. Its not about setting rules, or [saying] everyone has to be like me. No. Were all different. Thats what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. Its not up to me to judge anybody.
Now, I dont mean to pick on a young celebrity who has obviously devoted most of her life to music and may have missed out on some key Bible studies.
In fact, what Underwood has to say here is actually indicative of a growing biblical illiteracy within what passes for the Body of Christ in America today even among the clergy.
Heres the bottom line: You cant be a follower of Jesus and condone what He Himself describes as sin.
Neither can you truly love others by purposely not confronting their sin and allowing them to be comfortable with their sin.
Thats not love.

The only sins classified as “abominations” by God are: 1) Homosexuality, 2) Bestiality, and 3) Human Sacrifice. I don’t think God changed His mind about these things between the Old and New Testaments. Hmmm, and there’s nothing in either testament about “intolerance”.
***Above all, God wanted us to love others.***
I respectfully disagree, Ms. Underwood. Above all, God wants us reconcilled to Himself through our acceptance, belief, faith, and trust in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
If thy confess with thine mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe He was raised from the dead, thou shall be saved.
In the last half of the article he goes on to say:
As far as loving others, we are commanded to do it even our enemies. But the biblical view of love is not having sex with them its sharing the gospel.
EXACTLY!
Ping.
Above all, God wanted us to love others.”
Interesting that she spoke of God using the PAST tense...
I already knew all this. She was part of an anti-Pro 8 campaign along with LeAnn Rimes I believe. Still this matters little. We have bigger fish to fry than what any celebrity thinks.
Oh, that’s true.

A twisted view of “lov(ing) others” sullies the word “love”; after all, God is love, and whoever does not love doesn’t know God (per 1 John 4:8). Thus, defining God as being accepting of homosexuality is blasphemy.
I didn’t post it because of what a celebrity thinks. I posted it for what Joseph Farah had to say about it.
It’s not loving to cheer on sodomy. A shapeless, mushy “love” is not what God had in mind. Loves does not rejoice in iniquity.
Man, I would have thought Carrie was religiously devout. Goes to show ya.
“Its not loving to cheer on sodomy. A shapeless, mushy love is not what God had in mind. Loves does not rejoice in iniquity.”
No, she just wants to believe in a loveydovey Santa Claus in the sky that accepts everyone, no matter what they do.
Christians are to judge, they are warned only against judging hypocritically. Like ripping someone for doing stuff they secretly do.
Other than that, they are free to judge away. If you can’t judge, you can’t go to your brother and tell him what he’s done wrong against you or others.
Yes, Carrie is wrong.
Above all God wants us to tell others about the Good News, especially those who haven’t heard it. Carrie wouldn’t do that because that involves a judgment call.
Guess we can’t judge the murderers and rapists and pedophiles either, then, Carrie. Just “love” them.
God never said “All you need is love”. That was the communist, atheist, God hating, Aleister Crowley loving, dope smoking, acid tripping, making fun of abortion with dismembered plastic babies, Beatles.
I'm not saying that's right, but get used to it. It will expand. Because soon most of us will have to say we approve or lose our job. Cisco fired a trainer last year who was excellent as a job, because he had once written a book saying he opposed it. He never did anything wrong on the job, he just held an, "unacceptable position."
A lot of people are going to lose their jobs, if they don't fall in line. I don't think it's a good thing, but it's a reality.
Most know the words of the LORD Jesus in Matthew 7:1 and in Luke 9:37: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged.”
But this is not all the Lord taught on judging. In John our Lord taught: “Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement.” (John 7:24)
The Apostle Paul wrote: “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” (Romans 2:15)
“Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest of matters. Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more the things that pertain to this life?” (1 Corinthians 6:2-3)
