A suspected drunk driver leading police on a pursuit caused a deadly crash when her car collided into a taco truck.
California Highway Patrol noticed the driver weaving in and out of lanes on the eastbound 10 Freeway around 11 p.m. Saturday.
The female driver continued to drive after officers attempted to pull her over, eventually taking the pursuit to the 5 Freeway.
She then exited at Cesar Chavez Avenue, and, ignoring traffic signs, drove through a parking lot and into a crowded taco truck.
Two people standing outside the truck were hit and later pronounced dead.
One of the victims, 19, leaves behind a 1-year-old baby.
"[The driver] came off the freeway and hit my daughter and tore her apart," her emotional mother said.
The other victim, who has also not been identified, is a woman in her late 30s.

Well,at least they got the driver stopped and no LEOs were injured /s
“I would have run the plates and had someone waiting at her home for her to drive up and park (thus avoiding a chase)....”
Bingo! Everyone knows drunk drivers never kill anyone unless they are being chased by cops. Sheesh.
Good thing it wasnt you standing near that taco truck, huh?
I am certain, beyond any reasonable doubt, that statistically I am correct in saying that if they had not given hot persuit then two people would be alive today that are not. And further, that no other persons would be dead as a result of failing to pursue.
If there were a certain arbiter of my statement made above (only God would suffice) then would you honestly say I was wrong!? Let’s say your life depended on making the right choice. Unless you are insane then you would agree with me.
I rest my case, we will have to agree to dis-agree beyond this post my FRiends.
I agree.. my dear FRiend, to disagree, and I loath to be disagreeable.. :)
that is why the PD uses Helo’s
If there were justice in this world, that would be what people would want LEOs to do. And it would be legal.
About 360 people are killed each year in police chases and an estimated 10,228 people died in drunk driving crashes in 2010 in the United States (latest figures available), according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Invalid correlation.
You would need to compare fatalities between chased drivers vs un-chased drivers. This is the sort of statistical fallacy that liberals engage in...shame shame.
You a liberal, or disconnected from reality?
Awww...Did I rattle your chain???
Simply sensible my FRiend.
Look at the facts, don’t fall prey to nonsense....nonsense pushed by mainly liberal fools.
We are talking statistical reality here...not liberal fantasy.
I simply cannot agree with something that is obviously false.
It is overwhelmingly false that it is better to chase a drunk than to let them continue on home and hope for an arrest later.
Reality is an unmovable object for liberals and other fools to run up against.
Drunken drivers kill people all too often
I did not say my way or the highway. Do not put words in my mouth.
I only pointed out that waiting til the drunk gets ‘home safely’ is nonsense. Drunks rare;y get home safely. They leave injury and mayhem in their wake. To suggest that the people died solely because of the pursuit is naive. This drunk woman would have killed someone that night or soon enough there after.
Suggesting that a drunk driver be allowed to travel “home” is nuts (hence the term moron). Some on this posting sequence apparently think that drinking does not lead to impaired driving. Drunk drivers kill and maim all too many folks out there. Suggesting that a drunk can navigate to the destination in a safe manner truly defies logic
Having a helicopter or ‘drone’ in the air does not stop the drunk driver from killing or maiming someone else.
When you as an officer of the law use them for information of location I say good for you. It may help in capturing a crook or other nefarious criminal type. The drunk lacks the logic to do anything other than drink.
I will put money on the woman in this article having multiple priors and driving with a revocation.
If the majority of “unchased by the cops” drunken drivers caused fatalities then the death count would be in the millions and not the 10’s of thousands my FRiend.
Reality is what a conservative strives to deal with.
While it is BEST that all drunk drivers end up behind bars reality must be taken into account by those with above room temp IQ’s.
It simply is ridiculous to contend that hot pursuit of a drunk is safer for the public than refraining from such.
I’m surrounded by morons it seems...God help us.
Apparently so. Must be nice to be so perfect
I never suggested that drunks end up behind bars....maybe you just ought to take them out and shoot them.
Just provoking a high speed chase is simply stupid.
She was charged with drunken driving-- rather convenient for the cops. Perhaps she had an outstanding warrant, or couldn't pay the ticket and would lose her means of getting to work.
Two people dead and one's life ruined because they couldn't just pick her up at home later or mail in the citation.
