And based on 30 years experience (as an employee or married to one or working for a contractor) I will back you up 110%. Not to mention the everyday dealings with the morons at the DMV, city offices, etc.

True, that! I worked in academentia for a while -- like all academic nut-houses it was a union shop.
I had never before or since seen such cover-up, promotion to peter-principle, union-protected incompetance, and corruption in one place.
We had AA hires that were totally useless at
any job, forget the one they were hired for, but they lingered on. I bailed when I realized the only to get anywhere was to be colored or a brown-noser.
