Obama: "The Private Sector Is Doing Fine"
Real Clear Politics ^ | 6/8/2012

Question: What about the Republicans saying that you're blaming the Europeans for the failures of your own policies?

President Obama: The truth of the matter is that, as I said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.

The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.

And so, you know, if Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments and how do we help the construction industry? Because the recipes that they're promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the -- to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief in the housing market, and would result, I think most economists estimate, in lower growth and fewer jobs, not more.

If Romney loses this election, it’s because he wants to. It’s really that simple.

...we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.

...which fills about 7 weeks worth of new workers.

Those numbers alone indicate how much of a failure his policies are.

To Obama, the "private sector" is JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, GM, Chrysler, Monsanto, Archer Daniels Midland, General Electric, and the other multi-national, quasi-governmental, mega-entities that the public often confuses with genuine private sector companies.

So yes, I suppose "his" private sector is doing just fine...

From the transcript I read (can’t stand watching the guy), this followig jumped out at me. The President was blaming the Porkulus and Porkulus II money is not a steady stream.

The local gubbmint had to cut services because the one (two) shot deal was supposed to inject and stimulate the economy, not to be used as normal gubbmint ‘revenue’ to pay out their workers/unions.

I don’t think Obama has any clue where the money comes from. The private sector should be holding a bottomless well. Just like those who wanted ‘Obama money’ but didn’t care where the pile of Obama money is from.

I am so sick of this pos.

“...and who don’t have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.”

Yeah, its just too damn bad that state and local gubbmints can’t just print funny money to deal with “fewer revenues coming in” like the feds can, right owebama? Maybe you should propose a fiscally sound solution - let EVERYBODY print their own money.

And yet all markers for unemployment remain stubbornly high, with the CPI essentially flat.

That’s no growth baby and how is that fine?

We are suppose to be moving the ball down the field not holding a scrimmage waiting to get in game.

It would make a great 15second ad: “Out of touch? Obama-the private sector is doing fine- You don’t get more out of touch than that!”

Have these folks not been to their local malls lately? I went to mine last weekend and was shocked to see how many stores had closed down. These are scenes I do not ever recall in my life(not even under Carter).

——I don’t think Obama has any clue where the money comes from.-——

I’m beginning to think you’re right. It would explain why he holds to socialism/communism without a second thought.

He’s a self-centered simpleton.

Same here in Framingham/Natick, MA, the shopping capital of Massachusetts. I’ve lived in the area my entire life, and my memory goes back to the Nixon administration.

I don’t recall a vacant storefront—ever.

Now, there is one vacant strip mall. Another downscale mini-mall is half vacant. Every other strip mall has at least one vacancy. And the crown jewel of upscale shopping just re-branded as “The Natick Mall,” from the “Natick Collection.”

Worst economy in 50 years. Easily.

Every small business owner should be livid by that statement, most businesses are hanging on by the skin of their teeth. I have spoken with several in my town and they are a hurtin.

Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government.

Even if he was not liar he would still be wrong, the state and local governments are still doing the same, and that is just blowing money and raising taxes. Auto plates fee has almost doubled in Colorado.

We’re doomed.

First, he vilifies the so called rich for not paying their fair share. The same rich that are small businesses.

Then he says with a straight face everything is just fine in the private sector.

Damn, either this guy doesn’t have a clue or he is bold face lying. What an idiot.
