Question: What about the Republicans saying that you're blaming the Europeans for the failures of your own policies?
President Obama: The truth of the matter is that, as I said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.
The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.
And so, you know, if Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments and how do we help the construction industry? Because the recipes that they're promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the -- to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief in the housing market, and would result, I think most economists estimate, in lower growth and fewer jobs, not more.

Every golf course Obama has gone to was still open when he went there, so OF COURSE he thinks the Private sector is doing fine.
The affirmative action president has never held a real job In the for-profit private sector. How would he know?
What about the Keystone Pipeline, Barry?
Yeah, this whole economic disaster is all in our heads.
Seriously, is this guy mentally sick? Is he literally delusional? And where is the corrupt MSM to challenge him on these wildly absurd claims?
Very funny...
TRANSLATION: All money rightfully belongs to government, and if anybody besides government has any money it was an oversight."
In mid-2009, I left the private sector for a public sector job. Nearly every day since, I check to see if there are worthwhile private sector jobs in my field. NADA!!!
FUBO!!!
funny... I thought I heard him say “my private sector”
MSM has received their orders not to blame Obama for this economic meltdown....blame Europe.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Where are the follow up questions?
The weakness in state and local gubbmint? Who is he kidding?
Andrews Air Force Base Golf Course is not a Private business.
Every time Obama opens his mouth he shows his ignorance of what is happening in America.
LMFAO!
Romney just got new campaign material.
LOL at obama
blame and complain 2012
Keep repeating it over and over, Zer0. It is more evidence you are either clueless, indifferent or (more likely) hostile to private business.
The whole press conference was only 15-20 minutes including Q&A. How can one possibly address the serious financial and economic issues of the USA in that amount of time. I got the idea he absolutely did not want to be on that podium - how dare the Press ask him questions! This was a pathetic show, I imagine his handlers said something like, “Come on Barry we’re sinking fast, just get out there and say a few words and our presstitutes will spin it as best they can. Please.”
Men are from Mars. Women from Venus. Obama from planet Soultron.
I know what he’s talking about....he’s referring to all those private sector jobs he created in China and India.
The construction industry - Yes - as in the Keystone Pipeline ! Our kickass Governor, Scott Walker, has proven that State Government can take care of itself by actually handling the State budget in a responsible way through controlling spending. Local governments have then benefited from the decisions made at the State level.
The other States have an excellent example to follow.....but will they ?
