Speaking of tarantulas’....has anyone traveled on I-40 going west between the Nevada/Californina line and Barstow at N_I_G_H_T ? There are thousands of them crawling along the sides of the highway and smashed on the pavement. I used to think if I had a flat tire, I’d run on a rim to Barstow.

I used to regularly drive around South Western Kansas. There was an area somewhere maybe West of Ashland which was often over run with tarantulas.

Every time you ran over one, it would cause a thump. They were large enough to make an impact on your driving.

In these parts (south Kalifornia) tarantulas only appear above ground for a month in the early fall, and always at night...mating time.

Fortunately, they're virtually harmless; scary looking, but harmless.

Must not have any tarantula hawks that way. They WILL thin the herd out and fast.

I used to be afraid of them but, not anymore. BTW, dont EVER get stung by a Tarantula hawk..one of the worst stings, as far as pain, in the world I understand.
