I used to regularly drive around South Western Kansas. There was an area somewhere maybe West of Ashland which was often over run with tarantulas.
Every time you ran over one, it would cause a thump. They were large enough to make an impact on your driving.
Wow. Never saw them in Kansas. We used to see lots of them on the road driving back from Lake Elsinore. They’d come out onto the asphalt to keep warm I guess.
