In these parts (south Kalifornia) tarantulas only appear above ground for a month in the early fall, and always at night...mating time.
Fortunately, they're virtually harmless; scary looking, but harmless.

They may be harmless, but they're all Black Widows to me. Just like snakes...to me they are all cobra's.
