SANDY A mysterious sound, a dreadful realization, and a miraculous rescue. A cat was trapped in one of the most unlikely places imaginable, and somehow made it out alive.
Meet Crete. As in, concrete. He's named that because his owner rescued him from inside of a garage floor. Builders were working on a new home in West Jordan when they thought they heard meowing.
"The sheetrockers said they kept hearing the cat," said contractor David Best. "So they started tearing apart the walls and cutting holes in things looking for this cat."
The workers made their way around the home, cutting holes in numerous rooms trying to find the animal.
"I thought maybe it had climbed up in there and slid down and got stuck," said contractor Russell Evans. "So I just cut it out and I'm like tearing it out, and I'm like, 'Where is the cat?'"
"These guys would call, 'Hey kitty, kitty, kitty,' and it would meow, and I thought, 'Wow, it's in the middle,' and we've got our ears to the ground and everything," Best said.
The bizarre reality finally set in.
"I call Rich, and I'm like, 'I can hear the cat. It's in the concrete, I know it,'" Evans said.

Normally a service plumber would be the guy to handle this operation, from the locating with sound, or camera, or experience, and bringing the jackhammer in.
Thanks!
Salamander, you might want to see post #21.
What is salamander looking for?
When my parents installed a forced air heating/cooling system in our house, I moved all the cats to a boarding kennel. No sense taking any risks with a curious cat stuck in ductwork.
It’s called, avoiding catastrophe.
Wow, a snake, that is tough to find.
I have to go to bed, but if I think of something I will post again.
Unless you are very rich, a plumber finding it is very slim, and it could be a waste of a lot of money.
No pun intended? ;^)
Whoa there, talk about being teleported down Memory Lane.
Wall kitty ping! :)
One of mine will occasionally leave a little gift next to the litter box too - even after I’ve just cleaned it. My working hypothesis is that she’s just plain evil.
>>> My working hypothesis is that shes just plain evil.
Oh wow, no kidding. Mine has the covered style that comes apart, so I can keep the dogs out. (Ick) Before I present the freshly cleaned box and litter to her kittiness, I also have to run packaging tape along the seam in the back, or she manages to pee through the 2 halves.
Even if it’s just a varmint, the last thing you want is a dead animal in the walls of a building. The smell lasts a long, long time.
My husband and I were remarking on the number of big houses that are going up in Houston today. Considering the state of the country I would not expect to see any.
Uh, I guess that’s where the word originated.
Kudos for those guys caring enough to find it!
Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
Amen.
I hope that kitteh is just snow blind and that he recovers his sight. His irises look really shut down in that picture.
The awl bidness is doing fined hence the new homes going up.
Keep folks updated please.
