Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler just took delivery of the world's fastest convertible. The Hennessey Venom GT Spyder will accelerate to 200mph in 15.9 seconds, eight seconds faster than a Bugatti Veyron. Tyler was the first person to ask if he could have his without a top.
"Steven came to us last year and asked if we could build his Venom GT as a roadster," says John Hennessey. "We had to make a few structural changes to our integrated rollcage in order to be able to fit the removable top. This increased the weight of our vehicle by about 30 lbs to a curb weight of 2743 lbs (1244 kilograms). We decided to increase the Venom GTs power to 1244 bhp to maintain our 1 horsepower per 1 kilogram power to weight ratio."
Only five Venom GTs will be built this year and Tyler's remains the only convertible. At a price of $1.1 million for the Lotus Exige chassis lengthened and braced to make room for a 7.0-liter, twin-turbo V8, it's easy to understand why interested customers are few and far between.
When Matt rode in a prototype a year ago, he described the hand-built supercar as, "the best way to die."

Well.....who is Matt? That was my question after reading the article!
Nice choice.

It may not be as fast as some of those others, but it is sexy baby, yeah!
Runs on grass?
no doubt

You know.... Matt. The guy who knows what keys on the pegboard go to what cars without any labels on the keyring. Everybody knows Matt.
I’m trying to imagine how much money I would have to have before I would spend that much on a stupid car. I can’t. If I had all of the money, I still wouldn’t. If I had millions and millions, I’d stop thinking about stupid cars and start thinking about class 8 RVs, airplanes and boats. Big ones.
No, runs on AV Gas when I can get it!
That car is so embarrassed to be next to Steven in those sandals.
what’s all that crap hanging on his hip?

My favorite design of all time - hands down.
One of my college buddies had one and he trusted me with it. He didn’t like to drive fast, but he loved to go fast. So I drove and we hit the route 31 bypass around South Bend one night. Many years ago, just after the road was completed and it was virtually traffic free at night.
We hit 130+. I had to take his word for it, ‘cause my attention was fixed on the road!
I’m not for sure, but I think we could have gotten a few more MPH out of it. It was the 3.8L six.
He does look like a little old lady.
It will look less pretty when he wraps it around an unsuspecting tree.
So it’s basically a Lotus Exige with a 7.0-liter, twin-turbo V8? Holy crap, that’s quite a go-cart. I hope he has some serious driver training/experience. You could get into a lot of trouble, fast, with that thing.
A few pings.
The car is actually kind of ugly, which seems to be a perfect fit for him.
