I have never seen this picture of Obama and Moochelle. Supposedly this is on their honeymoon. Where is this picture taken and why is it taken there?

The steering wheel in the VW is on the right, so it’s a former British colony. Could be Kenya ... or the Caribbean.
It’s not a flattering picture, but judging from the shadows the sun is high and hot and shining directly into the faces.
It looks like a piercing.
He has a wedding ring on and she DOES NOT! At least it doesn’t look like she does. Isn’t this very odd????
obama is a cheapskate with his own money. Remember that he never bought Christmas presents for his children until he got elected president. It wouldn’t surprise me that he wouldn’t buy his wife a ring.

Pretty sure it’s Kenya. A quick Google Image search for Nairobi traffic shows all cars have a tag ID that starts with a K...just like the one in the photo.

He helped Odinga ine election in 2007. When Odinga lost, Obama as U.S. Senator made sure he got a “power sharing” arrangement after the Islamic supporters went on a rampage burning Christian churchs with people in them. The country is overwhelmingly Christian but Obama has been changing that. Forced abortion into their constitution to get U.S. aide.
Oh, look, it’s sort of a third world Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler has finally snagged the asexual little nerd.
All joking aside, that photo is quite planned. You see them in newspapers and on the evening news all the time. The concerned Care Bear Stare and The Hug combined is a twist. Usually they’re separate photos in a series. The photographer shoots a whole roll and the editors choose the most compelling visuals.
What you’re supposed to feel and how you’re supposed to react is to think, “my, what a fine caring man, working in the slums like that, he looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, and no wonder she loves him so, he’s going to save the world.”
Doesn’t hurt among the target audience for there to be a distinct Civil Rights era overtone to the whole thing, so uncharacteristic dungarees and retro black and white photo, never mind the anachronism.
It’s just as canned as Bill Clinton making a cross of rocks on the beach at Normandy, in other words.
