Libertarians are scum. Just sayin.
The Catholic Church is a hot mess.
And I thought priests were only interested in boys?
As a Catholic i have to just pray its not true.
Let’s see.
Yesterday the news was that several Catholic organizations are suing the feds for infringement of their Civil Rights.
Today this story comes out.
I question the timing.
Major problem here. 70,000 exorcisms? Do the math. That is impossible, no matter how long he has been a priest. If he’s lying about that, how credible is his new story?
The source for this article has been a priest for 58 years...and performed 70,000 exorcisms?
Assuming he worked at it 6 days a week, he would have had to perform 4 exorcisms a day, solid, for 58 years!
When the little things don’t seem believable, I question the big things.
Mmmm, (book: The Final Conclave) assassination by poison of Pope John Paul 1 while inside the Vatican and now this?
If this priest was ordained in 1954 let’s assume that he began doing exorcisms no earlier than 1962. That’s 50 years of exorcising. In that time he has performed over 70,000 exorcisms? That’s 1400 exorcisms a year or 3.84 exorcisms a day including weekends. This is such a preposterous assertion that it renders the rest of the article incredible.
If there is any truth to this story why does this priest tell this now?
The thing to do is blow the whistle when the child is being harmed.
1954 to 2012 is 58 years.
70000 exorcisms, over 58 years, is 1206.89 exorcisms a year.
That works out to 3.3065 exorcisms a day, every day, rain, sleet or hail, sickness, health, weekends, Christmas.....
I call busslhit.
-—Father Amorth, 85, noted that an archivist at the Vatican——
Is the activist a lay person? Sister? Brother? Priest?
Regardless, any members of these categories may sin. If true, this story would obviously be scandalous. Still, this report is light on facts.
——previously admitted to recruiting girls for parties-—
Admitted to who? Was the behavior criminal? Was there a trial? Conviction?
——and told La Stampa newspaper the he believes that Orlandi “ended up in this circle” and that the “case of sexual exploitation” led to her murder followed by “the hiding of her body,” according to the Daily Mail.——
Did he base his opinion on ANY facts? If not, this is pure speculation.
-—Father Amorth also said that “diplomatic staff from a foreign embassy to the Holy See” were also involved.-—
Again, based on what?
Exorcists are always at extreme risk of having the evil spirt transfer to them.
It is not an amateur endeavor.
I’m gonna have to see waaay more evidence before I believe this.
And no, I’m not Catholic.
An archivist, not necessarily a priest.
AND from the article:
“Father Amorth also said that “diplomatic staff from a foreign embassy to the Holy See” were also involved.”
Where does it say that the diplomatic staff was anything but just that? The Vatican is a separate state and often receives diplomatic staffs, not just Catholic ones.
If he's working into the year 2012, that would be over 1200 exorcisms a year.
Are they counting each entity within the possessed as one exorcism each? I mean, if you cast 10 demons out of a victim during one exorcism that should only count as one exorcism.
With such sloppy stats, it's no wonder that the Vatican never released exorcist trading cards!
Now, back on topic...
Anyone who kidnaps and rapes, especially if they victimize children, should be bound tightly in massive chains and tossed into the deepest part of the ocean.
