Why I Won't Vote For Romney
Tea Party.org ^ | 5/17/12 | John Alan

Posted on 05/17/2012 8:20:19 AM PDT by not romney

Because I want to defeat Obama. The Romney argument from day one has been 'you have to vote for Romney because he's the only one that can beat Obama'. I won't vote for Romney precisely because I know he will lose to Obama. A few examples as to why he'll lose:

Romney's positive approval rating has been 20 points below even McCain and Dole's who both ended up losing. It will probably start to rise with the end of the primary, however this is before the Obama Nasties open fire with both barrels, and Romney is a very target rich environment.

McCain lost to Obama by five million votes. The retort is 'yes but the luster is off Obama this time', true, but the luster has never been and never will be on Romney. The apathy on the right is every bit as apathetic as the apathy on the left. However in addition to apathy there is almost a disdain on the right for Romney and the GOP. Romney will lose three types of voters. 1. Unmotivated voters who won't bother to turn off 'Dancing with the Stars' to go vote. 2. Voters like myself that know Romney is a liberal and are disgusted with the dishonest corrupt campaign he and the GOP have run. 3. Voters that hate Romney so much that as soon as the word 'Romney' leaves your mouth the conversation is over. So from where is Romney going to get his votes?

"I resent when somebody does change their mind on this issue, they are still attacked. This does not help to promote support for pro-life views."

So all Romney has to do is say something, and you believe it? Well, how do you keep track? He's been back and forth on every issue so often----do you believe him every time, on every THING? Last Thursday he said "people of the same gender who love each other" should be able to adopt children. Then he backtracked on Friday. So did you believe him on Thursday, and again on Friday? Just another change of mind, right?

If it was one issue, yeah, I might believe it. But you're talking about a man who has lied about his own NAME. Bottom line, infants in MA are being killed thanks to this man, and he has never acknowledged it, nor apologized for it.

Voting for Robamney is throwing a conservative vote away. His change of view is not credible. At all. It is too recent, like his change on wetbackery and his changes on many other things. His election under these very thinnest of false pretenses will only make his victory all the sweeter for the communists. The only reason to vote for Romney is that he is our communist rather than their communist. And, as our communist he will get Republican congressional support for all sorts of things the kenyan might not get.

Neither Obama nor Romney are God. Neither Romney nor Obama are Christian, nor conservative.

A “radical” Christian voter may believe that God has lifted his blessing from our nation, regardless how this particular election turns out here on earth, believing that instead it will be He who sets before us our leaders. (The ones we deserve!)

In this post-Christian era in the USA, the two parties have melled into one, all of them duly elected, because they are “of the people” and represent the condition of the people, the moral decline of the broader population and certainly the decline in the “radically” faithful Christian.

Jesus would not fit in. And imagine Abraham? That Abraham and Isaac moment of sacrifice would be hooted off the laugh-o-meter by the media. But, Abraham did do his part first, in faith, in courage. Only AFTER Abraham did his part, did God do His work and provided for His faithful servant His saving act.

Great courage and great faith appear to be foolish, highly risky, maybe even deadly (for our nation), certainly scary, but never easy.

THIS is the time to do what is right, to act on right conscience and trust God for the rest.

I am not afraid of four more years of Obama, if that is what it takes to explode the socialist GOPE, who are actively moving the Republican Party to the Godless Left.

This is my test.

Paraphrasing here; “If my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves, and pray,......I will heal their land.”

He is speaking to HIS PEOPLE, now the Church! Not to the strategical thinkers, the fearful and panicked, ordinary Republicans, with their eyes on what is seen but not upon the unsee, but to His CHURCH, His people.

We should FIRST do our part, IMHO, and vote against Romney, for all the obvious reasons his awful record provides us, trusting instead of in Romney, rather in our great Almighty God, and only AFTER we do our scary but faithful part, trust in God to provide our course.

REBELLION IS TOO DAMN HARD, and it’s scary. But we ARE the resistance. We are the Church.

Beautifully stated, dearest RitaOK.

Jim has often said, “We’re on a mission from God,” and, truly, we are.

I understand you don’t like Romney, and I’m not sure too many of us (at least on FR) do either. So we can agree he’s a stinker on most, if not all, respects.

However, your argument, logic and reasoning aren’t very compelling. If you want to argue against Romney’s political positions on a variety of issues, you can make a case. But if you try to argue that voting for Romney is futile because he can’t win the election, then you just aren’t believable. Obama is going to lose to someone. We could have run a ham-sandwich and stood a good chance of beating Obama. Plus, most everyone is expecting Republican gains in Congress. That’s two branches of govt that should come out in our favor.

That leaves the Supreme Court. It is conservatively estimated that at least one SCOTUS Justice will be replaced in the next presidential term. There may be as many as three. Those appointments are made for *LIFE*. I want to do whatever I can to deny Obama the opportunity to make any further appointments. Whoever runs against Obama (presumably Romney at this point) I would rather take my chances with their selection of appointees than Obama’s. Even though there is still no guarantee a conservative justice will be seated, we already know the sort of justice Obama prefers and there is no silver-lining to the two flaming-lib/lesbian-poster-girls he appointed. No more Sotomayors or Kagens. For me, that is the overriding, essential point of this election.

If you want to allow Obama *any* advantage to be re-elected, that’s your choice. But to try and justify or rationalize voting against the leading candidate (who unfortunately is the GOP candidate at this point) for some unknown and/or back-of-the-pack candidate is pure folly. We have to make the best of the sorry hand we’ve been dealt. In no way will anyone ever convince me that allowing Obama back in the white house is a reasonable and prudent strategy. That would call sanity into question.

But, if you or anyone else can get a candidate polling ahead of the GOP candidate before election day, then I will certainly vote for them! Until then, I go with whoever has the best chance against Obama, be that the GOP candidate (most likely) or some other candidate that polls higher. There is no other logical choice, only those driven by blinding-emotions, irrational-pie-in-the-sky hopes, plain ol’ hissy-fits and the like.

Brilliant post, Rita.

I can’t say that I have great courage; when Obama has done certain unbearable things, I’ve wavered, and wondered, “Am I doing the right thing? SHOULD I vote for anybody just to get him out?” And every time, after praying, I have gotten my confirmation from God. In my heart I know what’s right, and right is not voting for abortion/homosexual-loving Romney. But being human, I’ve gotten weak. But the Lord has been there every time, assuring me that He has it under control, and that I’m to stand back, away from this mess, and not bloody my own hands. We just need to trust. HE HAS THIS.

A certain wise Freeper told me that she, also, believes this is a test of faith, so you aren’t alone in your view.

I made up my mind about Romney when he ran in '08. I remain praying for Divine Intervention. Nothing is set in cement. He's not even the certified nominee. I have complete faith, that somehow, some way, God will help us save our Republic and that sure as heck doesn't include me voting for Romney.

Romney does not uphold God’s teachings (see my tag line) so he doesn’t get my vote. Neither does Hussein get my vote so don’t post to me I’m voting for him. God will take it from here. Simple.

That was a great post Rita!

Perfectly explaining why it is necessary to do what is right, not expedient at all times as a Christian.

You can pretty much guage the correctness of your post about Romney by the level of acrimony and false charges leveled against you by supporters of Romney.

It’s the clearest litmus test there is.

You folks might as well put me on your “insult list”, because I WILL NOT vote for that RINO bastard. I WILL NOT yield to MSM, Rove, Romney-Fox news, the corrupt GOP-e or anyone else that supports that POS liar.

I detest Obama and everything that filthy bastard stands for. He deserves to be in prison, not living in our White House. But, I can not vote for Romney. In what seems like a very twisted way of thinking, I envy some of you folks who can switch horses so easily....I can not.

I have long said that the very moment that Romney becomes the nominee, Obama wins another 4 years.

“Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” ~ Ronald Reagan, from his first inaugural speech as governor of California, January 5, 1967

Ronald Reagan’s warning about losing our freedoms echoes down through a generation of lost momentum and squandered opportunity.

We now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections. I believe we have the most corrupt government and media our country has ever seen.

I know that many of you didn’t like him, but I believe that Newt was the one leader that could have turned our country away from the abyss, intelligently and quickly.

It is abundantly clear that not enough folks shared my beliefs, instead of a leader, they wanted a preacher.... and far too many lacked the courage to forgive and look beyond the personal sins in a mans past and into the promise of a brighter future for our country. That is certainly a free choice and a personal choice.... and as it is with all choices, there will be consequences.

To be clear, I WILL NOT vote for Romney. I have held that position from the start of this faux race and nothing has changed. To me, broccoli is broccoli, regardless of what’s put on it.... I hate broccoli.

In any case, Americans will get the country it apparently wants and a country it so richly deserves.

God must save this country if it is to be saved, because as a People, we have most certainly failed.

That’s right....God can do miracles, and does every day.

I will admit that I was clueless about Romney in 2008. Toward the last of the campaign was when I started lurking here, and if it wasn’t for FR, I’d probably still be ignorant of the true Willard.
