WASHINGTON Military leaders have concluded that last year's repeal of the ban on gays serving openly in uniform has not affected morale or readiness so far, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Thursday. "My view is that the military has kind of moved beyond it. It's become part and parcel of what they've accepted within the military,"

My wife is a Japanese civilian employee working at Yokota AB. She says that everyone she meets looks tired, numb and listless. Too much work, no support, no replacements for PCS active duty staffers, GS workforce is being cut to the bone. Everyone is scared of RIFs. COLA is gone, the value of the dollar is plunging, restrictions on off-base liberty (or whatever the AF calls it) are being tightened...
Active duty servicemembers are just keeping their heads down and marking time, hoping beyond hope that Obama is voted out in November. It’s worse than Carter and the 70s.
When Obama was elected three years ago, a lot of GS types were ecstatic. No one even talks about him anymore and when they do, they look around first and talk in low voices.
Of course it hasn’t hurt morale. You can’t wet a river. Based on everything I have heard, seen or read, morale is already down so low that the DADT repeal barely registers.
Who trusts either Panetta or the Asspress?

Back at home his partner waits
His Pink Beret has met his fate
He has died from the AIDS virus
Leaving him his last request

Put silver earrings in my son's chest
Make him one of Ellen's guests
He'll be the one they test for AIDS one day
Have him wear the Pink Beret
It isn’t like you can put in your two weeks notice and leave..........the exodus begins one by one at the end of a contract.
That is true, but the services want people to leave. They are slicing and dicing the numbers big time. They don’t care about the reason people leave. They just want them to LEAVE. Navy got rid of 5 thousand last year that didn’t even want to go. They are cutting all over the place.
Don't worry, they want females in the infantry too. The infantry will soon be nothing more than fruits and females.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
