POLICE chiefs have banned IT staff from using the word blacklist over fears it is RACIST.

The computer term whitelist — used to denote a list of acceptable contacts — has also been outlawed.

In an email, Scotland Yard warned staff the words were no longer “appropriate”.

Security services chief Brian Douglas wrote: “IB (Information Board) are uncomfortable with the use of the term Whitelist (and I presume Blacklist).

“I am sure we can appreciate the sensitivity around the use of such terminology today so please ensure it is no longer used.” He suggested using green and red list instead.

You can’t use RED! That’s racist!

Or maybe ‘RED’ is the coming acceptable word.

No, RED is racist. "Red" states are the ones in which the majority of the voters are Republicans. And Republican opposition to President Obama's agenda as well as those of Sharpton, Jackson and the other race hustlers makes them racist.

Does that mean that the expression “in the black” is also racist?

anyone using such words would give their organization a black eye, resulting in a black mark on their record and potentially being black balled from the company. such people obviously have a black heart, darker then the blackest night

So...”blacklist” has been blacklisted. I love to start the week with a nice, thick slab of irony.

He suggested using green and red list instead.

I guess we could use that to differentiate between the Enviro-Nazis and the regular old run-of-the-mill Commies....

Can I still store my “redlist” on my slave drive?

I haven’t read the book yet. From a 30-minute review of the plot, these are the 4 most relevant paragraphs I found:

The society of Oceania is sharply stratified into three groups, the small power-seeking and government controlling Inner Party, the more numerous and highly indoctrinated Outer Party, and the large body of politically meaningless and mindless Proles.

After the revolutionary period of the 1950s and the 1960s, society divided itself into the High (Inner Party), the Middle (Outer Party), and the Low (Proles); the first used technology to establish themselves as the perpetual ruling class.

To the end of suppressing any unorthodoxy, the Party inculcate self-deceptive habits of mind to the inner and outer members, thus crimestop (”preventive stupidity”), halts thinking at the threshold of politically-dangerous thought, and doublethink allows simultaneously holding and believing contradictory thoughts without noticing the contradiction, to wit:

” . . . but by the exercise of doublethink he also satisfies himself that reality is not violated . . . To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies - all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. “
