I hope to get back to normal sooner than soon! I love the many cuties of peep-eye you posted today! You hit a gold mine. Hope all is well with you!

My weekend has been fine so far. I just try to deal with this pain and do a few things. I have talked to so many who have epidurals with no good results. You had one, how long did you get relief from yours? I guess its according to what the problem is maybe! I go back to the neurosurgeon Tuesday and he’s going to want to know the results and I dread to let him down. These are good and very considerate doctors and really want to help their patients!

Mine were not particularly effective. I got a couple of weeks relief from the first one - increased dose on the second but still only short-term relief. Went for a third and the Dr. was unable to administer it due to my shortness of breath - I began hyperventilating on the table and he called it off. Still waiting to hear from the gurus at Hopkins for an appointment with their Pulmonology service. Just picking them up and putting them down in the interim.

We took the couch cushion and put it on the back of the bed, then the regular pillow on top of that. I bought one of those Total Body donut pillows, highly recommend it, and used it too. It folds in half, or you can put a sore ear in the hole...works either way. Makes a good neck rest and holds your neck straight. Slept well except for the tinkle runs in my own bed last night.

How big is 2.5 lbs in comparison to a basketball, that is what the bulge she took off weighed. Dressing more an issue than incision along with drains, they move, I’ve taped them down with band aids on my lower leg to stop some of the movement.

My first cervical nerve block lasted 3 months, the other never worked at all. The 2 lumbar were failures and made the pain worse. Just all the side effects from the cortisone to deal with on top of the pain. If you have bone spurs, blocks are not going to help much. And they don’t want to remove them.

Prepared For The Real Thing
May 20, 2012

Through the years, quite a few people have predicted the return of Jesus at a specific time. Just last year an American radio preacher stirred up the interest of the mainstream media with his prediction that Jesus would return on May 21, 2011.

Anyone who knows Scripture well knew that this advance warning wasn’t accurate, because Jesus Himself said His return would be “at an hour you do not expect” (Luke 12:40). But I do have to admit that this prediction captured my attention. Often I get so caught up in the busyness of life that I live as though Jesus’ return is some distant reality. I forget that Jesus could come back at any time. The prediction, wrong as it was, reminded me about the importance of being prepared for my Savior’s return, and it renewed my excitement that it could be any day—even today.

Sometimes when we think of being ready for Jesus’ return, we think about what we shouldn’t be doing. But being prepared is really about purifying ourselves and becoming more and more like Him so we are pleasing to Him when He comes back for us (1 John 3:2-3). Jesus taught that being ready for His return requires living according to our Master’s will now (Luke 12:47). Will we be prepared when it’s time for the real thing?

Keep me praying, keep me trusting

Look for Christ’s return and you’ll live for Christ’s glory.
