Old Lyme The goose with the arrow through its head that was spotted earlier this year is continuing to evade capture by town animal control officials.
The bird stood out Friday in a flock of fellow geese near High Hopes, a horse farm on Town Woods Road.
Old Lyme assistant animal control officer Lizabeth Gode said the goose is able to fly, which has thwarted attempts to capture it. She said officials have tried using nets and food to lure the goose, to no avail.

Connecticut geese and Connecticut Democrats have a lot in common. You can shoot them in the head without hitting a vital organ.

I killed a goose with an arrow through its head once. It got around on the water OK and didn’t appear to be able to fly so I put it out of its misery.

Seattle had an epidemic a while back.
**You can shoot them in the head without hitting a vital organ.**.Malloy seems to have no problem with running off his mouth and shooting himself in the foot on a daily basis. ;(

Canada geese and PETA and aviation are constantly locking horns..look at all the bird strikes around airports.
Here, I think we have an overabundance of mute swans..they are pain in the neck if you paddle in any of the tidal marshs and estuaries.

Yeah, the guy survived 80+ years after getting shot — amazing.
I understood though, that he did tire of people constantly asking him about it-
“I need all this attention like a hole in the head...”

Same here. We got to about 60 of them on my little 200 acre lake (That's a lot) and suddenly all but 10 of them disappeared. I think the DNR quietly eliminated them but after 2 years we're back up to about 40 of them.
If they weren't so similar to the native trumpeters we'd probably be able to hunt them.

If that goose had taken an arrow to the knee it would be a different story.

Since they can’t catch it any other way to save it, they probably need to blast it a couple of times with a shotgun, and then take it to the vet to check if the arrow wound would likely be fatal.

Sort of illustrates the phrase “bird brain.”
But hey, no matter the arrow thru your head, ya still gotta eat.
