'Our lives have been made hell': Couple at centre of crying toddler baseball video say they are now 'viral-villains' and demand apology after Yankees commentator's attack
(Excerpt) Read more at dailymail.co.uk ...
Looks to me like the kid is a spoiled little snot. Can’t get what he wants so he starts crying. I wouldn’t have given up the ball either.
I thought the couple did it on purpose. They should have given the ball to the little boy. I would have.
He’s a liberal in the making. The pople who got the ball need to give their fair share of the ball.
Anyone who takes a kid that age to a baseball game is a dumbass and gets what they deserve. That kid doesn’t know baseball from auto mechanics.
I’m torn on this......yes, I always felt if I caught a ball, I would give it to the nearest kid, but on the other hand, I understand the sentiment that people shouldn’t get what they want just because they cry.
But an adult has to know that if they catch a foul ball on TV, that people will be watching what they do.
Eventually the kid did wind up getting another ball. So in the end, it should have been a non-event, with everyone being happy, except for the jerk announcer making the couple the most-hated people in the country.
I’m guessing all you folks bad-mouthing the child have never met a 3 year-old. They cry when disappointed. They all do, even those of conservative parents.
I didn’t really care about this story until the “villains” demanded an apology from Michael Kay. Way to remove any doubt that you are, in fact, d-bags.
First of all, if the Ranger was actually throwing it to the kid he should have made that clear.
Second, if I catch a ball and decide to give it to a kid, which kid would I give it to? I guess I’d have to figure out a way to “spread it around”.
And finally, the mother said they would use it as a life lesson about not always getting what you want. Seems to me they haven’t been teaching that up to this point.
Why? Maybe he had a child at home who wanted it. Maybe he had been to games over the years and never caught a ball. The kid was a brat. We, and that includes kids, never, ever get everything we want.
Especially true in light of the Josh Hamilton incident from last year......I figured after that, they would have instructed them to no longer throw balls into the stands.
He’s a THREE yo! I guess that you didn’t read the whole story......
I’m almost 71, and I cry sometimes when I’m dissapointed.
Why is it automatically the kid’s baseball? Whoever catches it or gets to it gets the ball. Kids don’t have an automatic right to a foul ball any more than anyone else does. Sheesh.
That said if a kid catches a foul ball or can get to it first, that is great for the kid. It certainly does occur.
um the kid is three years old. three year olds cry when they don’t get what they want. how the parents handle it determines whether the kid grows into spoiled little snots. seems they were doing the right thing - teaching the kid the he can’t have everything he wants.
the media played us (again) like they did in Duke Lacrosse, and Treyvan Martin.
the adults have the same right to the ball as the kid. people even my age (50-s) dream of catching a foul ball. at what age do we stop working on our dreams?
Two thoughts on this. First, their explainaton is that they were not the thoughtless jerks everyone makes them out to be - they were just in their own little world and did not see the toddler. Well, that is kind of what made them selfish jerks. Because everyone else sitting near them and watching the video did see what was going on with the toddler.
My second thought is more charitable. Yes, they were jerks and deserved to be told so by the people around them, and maybe even by the stadium announcer. However, in the big scheme of things they probably dont deserve to be ridiculed by the whole nation. We have a media that thrives on finding the outrage de jour and repeating it endlessly on the 24 hour cycle of Nancy Grace-type programs. I feel sorry for those people who are unfortunate to be selected as the target of the moment for the ridicule for profit media.
There’s no Crying in Baseball!!!!
The family with the 3 year old attends a lot of games, and they oftentimes move to these lower seats during the course of the game. They do so BECAUSE THEY HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD AND THEY GET BALLS TOSSED TO THEM AS A RESULT.
The kid himself said later that his crying wasn't because of the fact that he didn't get the ball, but that it was so loud.
