I’m torn on this......yes, I always felt if I caught a ball, I would give it to the nearest kid, but on the other hand, I understand the sentiment that people shouldn’t get what they want just because they cry.

But an adult has to know that if they catch a foul ball on TV, that people will be watching what they do.

First of all, if the Ranger was actually throwing it to the kid he should have made that clear.

Second, if I catch a ball and decide to give it to a kid, which kid would I give it to? I guess I’d have to figure out a way to “spread it around”.

And finally, the mother said they would use it as a life lesson about not always getting what you want. Seems to me they haven’t been teaching that up to this point.

Me too. On the one hand, if the child catches the ball he/she would probably be a fan of that team for life! On the other hand, I’ve been working hard for 40 years to catch a ball, so why should I not reap the reward of the years of effort!
