Are the refs being fined for the horrible lack of call? The hit was blatant and horrible, and the refs should be held responsible, too. And I’m an old-school hockey fan. I like the fights. But I don’t like dirty players and dirty hits, and that was a dirty, dirty hit.

The Blackhawks were robbed, of what should have been called, a 10 minute major penalty....Which would have had the Hawks on a powerplay for 10 minutes....The hawks could have scored a goal or two or three during that powerplay that never happened because the refs and linemen misses the call. One, Torres skates left the ice and...two, Torres hit Hossa in the head. During the first game the one of the Hawk players (Shaw) hit the Phoenix goalie in the head and receives a game misconduct plus a 10 minute major penalty, which one goal was scored, and was suspended for three games. The refs and linesmen should all be fined and suspended for missing that call. Did I mention I'm from Chicago.

The NHL once publicly reprimanded a referee for blowing a call in the playoffs back in the 1990s, and may have even fined him a substantial amount of money. I think it was Andy van Hellemond, who later became the league’s director of officiating (ironically).
