Cumulus says its new midday talker has a starting lineup of nearly 200 stations, though some of those are delayed or shortened (stations carrying just two hours of the show). Cumulus is able to deliver its own KSFO, San Francisco (560). But Cumulus-owned WBSM, New Bedford, MA (1420) is using only two hours of Huckabee, from 1-3pm. And the Cumulus-owned big-guns, stations like WLS, Chicago (890) and WABC, New York (770) just dont have room for Huckabee. Outside the Cumulus family, the Seattle clearance is Crista Broadcastings Christian teaching KCIS at 630, which airs delayed and shortened broadcast from 4-6pm. Atlanta is Friendship Broadcastings talk WCFO (1060), from 1-4pm. Tampa is locally-owned Christian talk daytimer WTIS (1110), for two hours. In Cincinnati, the affiliate is Jon Yingers Real Talk 1160 WQRT, airing on a delayed basis from 3 to 5pm. Greenville-Spartanburg is Clear Channels Christian teaching daytimer WLFJ (660). Fresno is Gore-Overgaards unrated Christian teaching KIRV (1510). One of the two known stations to drop Rush Limbaugh, after the February 29 Sandra Fluke episode, is adding Huckabee. Thats Vox-owned WBEC, Pittsfield MA(1420).
Don't worry Rush, you're not being threatened.
Ah—now, flashback 2009 (used Huckabee police murder release in yahoo search and got:)

>>Update: 12/01 1:28 P.M.: Just got off the phone with former Huckabee Presidential Campaign Manager Chip Saltsman. I asked him whether he thought the criticism the Governor is taking for the Clemmons commutation is fair.
-—The Governor is a very spiritual person, and this hits him hard. Its very personal to him, he said. It is a lot easier to blame the one guy in the process you know. But its a complicated and convoluted system in the state of Arkansas.
...Update: 12/01 8:15 A.M.: Huckabee took to the airwaves last night to defend his commutation of Maurice Clemmons sentence. In the friendly and familiar confines of Bill OReillys Fox News studio, the former Arkansas governor didnt stray too far from the content of the statement released by HuckPAC on Monday, owning up to his role in making Clemmons parole eligible, but spreading ultimate responsibility for the convicts release to sloppy prosecutors, lenient judges, and compassionate parole boards.
>>If I couldve known nine years ago that this guy was capable of something of this nature, obviously I wouldve never granted the commutation, Huckabee told OReilly. Its sickening.
>>Update: 12/01 7:45 A.M.: Seattle police reportedly shot and killed Maurice Clemmons early Tuesday morning, after authorities zeroed in on his location by aggressively questioning friends and family. Clemmons had apparently sustained an earlier gunshot wound to his torso, inflicted by one of the officers he is believed to have murdered Sunday.
Who knew?
I just cut my check to the Illinois Treasury. Now Huckabee appears on WLS, likely to tell me that it’s all ok. grrrr
Supposedly there’s no room for him on WLS though at the current time...yet...
>>Cumulus-owned big-guns, stations like WLS, Chicago (890) and WABC, New York (770) just dont have room for Huckabee
at least WLS has no room for his talk show—they may carry his “Mike Huckabee Report”—he took the place of Paul
Harvey I think
I can’t wait to not listen to him.
>>About 600 stations carry Mr. Limbaughs show, the anchor for talk radio, about 125 of which are owned by Clear Channel. Of the more than 180 that will carry Mr. Huckabees show at the start, 40 are owned by Cumulus. In many markets, the new show will be tape-delayed, potentially making it harder for the show to gain traction. But Mr. Dickey said the number of stations carrying the show had far exceeded the companys expectations.
For now, Cumulus will carry Mr. Limbaughs show instead of Mr. Huckabees on dozens of its stations, something it says it is contractually bound to do through 2013. But what then? Mr. Dickey would not say, but many people in radio contend that if Mr. Huckabees show is successful, Cumulus will schedule it in Mr. Limbaughs place.
In part that is because the fees stations must pay to carry it have become expensive when cost-cutting is the norm. The Mike Huckabee Show could give stations leverage.
Mr. Hogan said, I think our affiliates absolutely understand and value Rush, but it wouldnt be radio if they werent complaining about the price.
Mr. Dickey is aware of the whispers that what they are trying a moderate, all-are-welcome approach is antithetical to talk radio, which has thrived on the kind of controversy that Mr. Limbaugh provides.
(zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
Why listen to Huckleberry when there’s a dyed-in-the-wool Conservative voice: RUSH LIMBAUGH!
Well at least Huckabee is on the radio and not in a position to pardon a bunch of felons into society to commit more crimes.
That aside, Huckabee won’t be able to compete with Limbaugh but he will probably do fairly well with many social conservatives. There are a lot of Robertson/Huckabee/Santorum type voters that aren’t small government conservatives, but are primarily focused on traditional family values and will find Huckabee’s message appealing.
Just like the national GOP strategy, take a winning formula and water it down to appease those who can’t make up their minds.
At least here we can stay away and the country will be better off for it.
He’s on WOR-710 New York, too.
I won’t be listening.
Ever
Ah, thought I had heard that but radio-info didn’t mention it in that blurb (just that WABC wouldn’t carry it). Thanks
>>he will probably do fairly well with many social conservatives
Yes—on one of the Radio-info boards, someone said they’d figure Huckabee would be boring but “Goat Rodeo Cowboy”
responded: “What you are expressing is YOUR taste in content, your PREFERENCE. Huckabee radio will not be appointment radio for me, but he has the style, the accent, the vocabulary that appeals to the “religious right”. They find him to be charming. What is skim milk to you may be an ice cream sandwich to them. You find NPR having all the excitement of hospital food, but it is my ice cream sandwich! Rush is your ice cream sandwich but for me Rush is like that Ozarks treat everybody talks about but nobody can stand the smell: “Poke Salat and Wild Onions”. (I haven’t seen a Poke Weed in 40 or 50 years and it still gives my nose the shivers.) I’ll bet Huckabee knows about “Poke Salat”.”
If a talker runs his mouth and no one is there to listen, would anyone know the difference.
I hope someone challenges him on the President’s eligibility on day one!!
