This is what i see happening in November:
A week or so before the election, the secretaries of states for CA, PA, FL, OH, IN, MI and other "must have" states get a personal visit from some thug in the Obama administration, telling him (or her) that Obama will win that state; make up any numbers you want, but Obama will win. Get it? Wink, wink. Or else. You have kids? Grandkids? They're all healthy, right? You want them to stay that way, right?
Then election night comes and the networks broadcast the results and, even in counties that usually vote very heavily for conservatives, the numbers for republicans are just not there.
Obama wins by a landslide; republicans cry foul, but who cares? Who is going to stand up and seriously question The One?????
And there you have it. In one night, it's over and we wake up in the morning to a total dictatorship......
Congress continues to meet, the Supremes continue to hear cases but none of it matters. Orders for EVERYTHING come right from the White House....
Geez, do I hope i'm wrong......
Rising fuel prices percolate throughout the economy, including fuel and energy costs for farmers, food processors, and truckers, insecticides and herbicides that are petroleum derived, irrigation costs, etc. That said, inflation is by classical economics definition, an increase in the money supply. It does have the short term effect of making debts easier to pay by increasing the money supply. You could argue that the prior stimulus packages prevented a more severe collapse than what actually occurred. However, the long term effect is to defer the severe pain. There is only so long you can kick the can down the road. Nobody in either party except Ron Paul, who is unelectable, even proposes to balance the budget in the next 3-5 years. Congressman Ryan’s plan, though way better than anything in the mainstream, only projects a balanced budget by 2040.
Bingo. You could also look at GWB, who expanded medicare and education big time while adding the bureaucracy of Homeland Security. As Santorum said, it is a team game.
You’re absolutely right. After almost 12 years, I’ve witnessed a lot of patience on Jim’s part. I’ll watch my step.
You are correct, it is a VERY different world today.
I’ll add that Mittens is not Ronald Reagan.
I’m not feeling good at all about Mittens chances for a win. I don’t like him at all either but I HATE oblabla.
I see the same thing as in 2008. I wondered then when the economy would tank and when people would react to the price of fuel. It did tank and they did finally react. The vacation season in 2008 made highways and camping areas look like ghost towns. Sure some travel continued but not a whole lot. This summer will be worse, much worse. We have not yet recovered from the recession. It is all a house of cards.
For now though, you are right, they don’t seem to care about the price of fuel but I think they are feeling it. My renters left for a worse house 5 miles closer to town and work all over fuel prices. Shocked me since the rent house is dirt cheap to live in, has new paint, carpet, HVAC, dishwasher, fans etc., is on an acre lot and I pay to have the yard mowed. Five bills a month.
I won't stay home, because I don't want to have any part of Obama being re-elected.
Bravo!
Doesn’t Romney believe in gun control?
Last time around, McCain was the “establishment” candidate while Romney was the upstart. This time around, Romney is the “establishment” candidate.
I live in Virginia as well, and I don’t see hordes of people fearing Romney like the ignorant masses here. I don’t know what deluded world you’re living in, but it sure isn’t the real world.
