Will the latino racial organizations identify this man as a latino?
To say the least indeed! Cops respond to a 911 call, shoot and kill a guy, then ask the DA to charge the caller with manslaughter. Just damn!
Interesting, how can they charge him with manslaughter but not the officer who actually pulled the trigger.
The victim knew the police wouldn’t respond to an unarmed robbery. Same in our area. I called in a man being beaten by three gang people and the police didn’t respond. The dispatcher asked if they were armed..and I said no.
Two officers shot and killed a man when they saw him running.
The cops are obviously white republican racists and they acted stupidly.
The word is definitely around that if you want the police to pay attention, say that someone was armed.
Yeah and the DA is just as bad.
No. Two officers shot same time as they saw man reaching for waistline however many suspect now he couldn’t run in his baggy pants and was merely pulling them up as he ran... The original victim is now being accused of lying about the gun these thugs used to rob him. So criminals w/o guns should never be shot. That’s the debate this week.
I'm eager to see that part of the story play out.
So,
1. If the police charge the crime victim here with manslaughter
2. shouldn’t they be charging the second criminal with felony murder?
Too bad our troops in Afghanistan don’t have such lax ROE.
Can't recall what they called it, there was a slang phrase, but at one time some police officers carried a cheap pistol to place next to the body of someone they shot who turned out to be unarmed. Not at all advocating that behavior but it was known to happen. In this case who's to say the deceased did not dump his gun or knife under a bush when he heard sirens?
PS: Running from cops as one reaches toward one's belt is as much an act of suicide as jumping off a tall building.
It's more than an accusation. According to the article, the original victim has admitted to doing so, apparently because he felt the police would respond quicker if he told them they were armed.
"Drop Guns" or "throwdowns"
Apparently the guy needed an ego boost bragging about how clever he was instead of taking his recommended daily dose of STFU!!!!!
Yeah...he sure fooled them cops :-/
...but to be honest, there was plenty of stupid erupting all over here. Apparently the deceased was well on his way to being a career criminal with an already extenisve résumé. The 911 caller was probably proud of himself for having gamed the system when the cops showed up (all fun and games ‘til somebody gets shot). And while I can understand the cops being wary because a firearm had been reported, their decision to shoot needs to be pretty closely scrutinized as well in light of the fact that there was no firearm found.
