Dear Sam....Having worked in the industry men are deemed the easiest sell of all for a woman sales person...because most don't want to appear to be “cheap” even if they are looking for just a shirt and tie.

Same works for fragrances when a man is the buyer either for himself or for the lady in his life....and Jewelry.

It's usually and ego thing for a guy....and woman sales people will take advantage of that....especially in a commissioned area. It's generally seen in younger woman that to give the man attention, eye contact, be sweet, appeal to his masculine ego and his wallet will naturally fall open.
