Have blacks in America achieved the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and become truly Free at Last? This is the question recently tackled in the brave and powerful documentary Runaway Slave a new film which exposes the economic and social enslavement of the black community to the progressive policies of the US Government.
Rev. C. L. Bryant hosts the movie revealing the new underground railroad and the mindset of a cultural acceptance of entitlements and big government. Bryants own life provides unique insights into the racial and political issues of the day. A former Chapter President of the Garland, Texas NAACP, former democratic activist, and pastor; C. L. had a front row seat to the civil rights movement in the south. There is a 50-year-old lie that has caused an entire people to become harlots to the political idea that government knows what is best. says Bryant.
Citing statistics that demonstrate increasingly high rates of abortion, crime, unemployment and single parent households in the black community, the film features interviews with politicians and everyday Americans, along with images from national events in Washington, D.C.
Its underlying theme asks the questions: What does the black community have to show for its 95% support of the Democratic Party? Is it truly free at last?
The Rev. C.L. Bryant, a self-professed runaway slave", the films central figure, is speaking out:
Former NAACP leader accuses Sharpton and Jackson of exploiting Trayvon Martin
Ohh, uh-uh... don’t wanna go there brutha... they’ll “Uncle Tom” ya... turn you into ah Oreo... they’ll politically tar and feather ya and run you out-a town... don’t do it, I’m tellin ya...
I wish I had the exact quote, but Booker T. Washington once said there will be those within the black community who will profit greatly from the blacks always being in a victim status, and will work to keep them there. Can we think of anybody like that?
A conservative African American pastor who founded a Tea Party organization in South Central L.A., says he agrees with Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich that many blacks lack a work ethic. The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson’s solution: send them back to the plantation.
Peterson explained his plan to The Huffington Post’s Black Voices, saying, “one of the things that I would do is take all black people back to the South and put them on the plantation so they would understand the ethic of working. I’m going to put them all on the plantation. They need a good hard education on what it is to work.”
He made the comments when asked to comment on Gingrich’s back and forth with Fox News correspondent Juan Williams, who questioned Gingrich about what he called potentially insulting comments about the poor and minorities during a Republican presidential debate Monday in South Carolina.
Peterson told Black Voices Newt is absolutely right:
“Newt said that he would have black children, minority children work as janitors at school. Working as a janitor would build character, more so than the handouts so many of them like.”
“I know some people take it personally because a whole lot of folks don’t like hearing the truth; they like to be in denial,” he added. “Not all black people, but most black people know, and white people know, and black people say it more in private than they would in public, but for the last 50 years or so, generations and generations of black people have relied on the government or someone else to take care of them.”
“Many black women have had babies out of wedlock and passed that on to their daughters that if they have babies out of wedlock, they’ll get food stamps, free houses and your rent paid,” Peterson said.
According to the report, Peterson himself grew up on an Alabama plantation where his family had once been enslaved, and where members of his family had later worked as share croppers.
He is no stranger to controversial rhetoric, having slammed the NAACP for what he called “spreading lies” about racism within the tea party and being hypocrites for not speaking out when “black thugs attack white Americans and commit crimes in flash mobs across the country.”
Last summer, Peterson organized a South Central Los Angeles Tea Party rally, through his organization, Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (B.O.N.D), which was aimed at denouncing the NAACP, which Peterson called a “political pawn of the liberal-elite, white, racist Democratic Party and not really for the people.”
Peterson told Black Voices he hopes that black people will ultimately “hear the truth” and “pull away from the Democratic Party and its godless leaders.”
A bunch of lazy, "the world owe's me a livin'!" parasites, crying with their mouths full when they aren't gang-banging on their own kind!
I am sure this is not what Dr. King had in mind!
Sadly, I am afraid Dr. King Jr. must be doing brake dancing in his grave seeing what has become of the great civil rights movement.
Truly a voice of reason during a very insane time.
Hand to God, I was thinking a lot this morning on EXACTLY the same thing(s). What also struck me, and hard, is how this latest race-baiting-for-Trayvon bullshit has white America unbelievably steamed....and to an extent I haven’t seen in my lifetime.
God Bless Rev. Bryant!
yes... indeed!!
Mother Seeks Trayvon Martin Trademarks
MARCH 26--The mother of Trayvon Martin has filed two applications to secure trademarks containing her late sons name, records show.
Sabrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases I Am Trayvon and Justice for Trayvon, according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton is seeking the trademarks for use on Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin, and other products.
The March 21 USPTO applications, each of which cost $325, were filed by an Orlando, Florida law firm representing Fulton.
There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. ~ Booker T. Washington (1856-1915.) ~ Educator, Author, Civil Rights Leader
.
White America is steamed, for sure, but white America is also patient, and willing to give the law and justice time to work... OJ Simpson is a perfect example. Everybody knows he killed his wife and her friend, and were highly agitated that a black jury sided with OJ’s defense, if for no other reason than to “stick-it-to-whitey”. But justice found another way around, and OJ will die in jail. His was an issue that should not ahve had any racial component at all, but it was injected and we got what we got. There will always be the contemptuous among us, whether based on skin color or political leanings... the key will be to keep the contemptuous outnumbered... could be a tall order though.
I just finished his autobiography, “Up From Slavery”, last week. A truly impressive story about a brilliant man who truly “worked his way out” of hopelessness and gave untold thousands REAL hope and change. The children of Booker T. Washington are the Thomas Sowells and Walter Williamses and Bill Cosbys of today, not the rece baiters.
rece = race...
I wanna see that movie.
Do you think it will ever be on BET?
The other night, I came across a TV show on PBS. A person (perhaps host of the show) was in charge of tracing the family trees of a few adult black men including one of the Marsalis brothers. After conducting the research, he asked what percentage of black/white/native American each considered himself. When the results were made known, and each person was found to have white ancestry, one person said “Next time I am stopped by the police for driving while black, I will tell them I am white.” Marsalis said he wanted to knock on the doors of his white relatives to see their reactions, said to laughter. Sad that the immediate reactions would be as such.
Apparently the movie is in need of funding for any release. Given the current uproar over Trayvon Martin’s case and the coming election . . .timing is everything.
My spouse and I are working out the max we can pull together to support this film. Hope everyone else does the same. This is one film that should not sit on a shelf waiting at a time like this.
Thank You
Those who seek to be understanding, patient, and rational vs. a foe that is knee-jerk, violent, and irrational are always at a distinct disadvantage. That is exactly why blacks feel so empowered to prey on whites; they consider us to be a race of wimps.
That.....needs to change and fast.
I didn’t agree with everything Dr. King said, but he was certainly a giant compared to Jackson, Sharpton and all the other poverty pimps. And it’s a damn shame that one of his lasting lagacies is to have streets in “high crime” areas named in his honor.
