Just looking at new gun cleaners, anyone ever use Gunzilla ?

New an improved panther piss for cleaning firearms is always worth looking into.... Albeit us traditionalists stay with tried an true.

Try Carb cleaner from Walmart. Cheaper and works better that the brake cleaner. Brake cleaner harden ups some oils.
Carb cleaner rinses all the bad things away with no problem. Then use the Walmart version of WD-40. The gun comes out really nice at low cost.

Godzilla is a superior lubricant and many shooters are now using it for reloading.
Godzilla eliminates the need to use water for cleaning and oil for protecting when used on a muzzleloader
Godzilla is very effective in cleaning shotgun choke tubes,stainless steel guns, and the AR-15 bolt area.

Where do I get Godzilla at, though? ;-)

Another vote for Ballistol here, supplemented with Kroil as needed. I also like Hoppes and CLP, but both of them give me an almost instant headache.

Indeed, I use carb cleaner as well. It depends on what I’m cleaning.

Also concur on WD-40, which I buy by the gallon.

I collect Nagants. My tried-and-true "initial cleaning" is a 5-day soak submeged in kerosene for all metal parts. This dissolves gunk and softens rust. After the soak scrub with hot soapy water and administer a strong ammonia bore cleaning to remove gilding metal. Rinse with more hot water and then dry in an oven.

After lube and reassembly they shoot like the day they were made.

A lot of folks will trash you for using WD-40, but for corrosion prevention it is the best game in town. Brownells did a controlled experiment and discovered that WD-40 outperformed virtually all other corrosion preventers, even very expensive ones.

Don't use it for lube, though. It does not retain viscosity over time. I use it exclusively to swab chambers and bores and for exterior wipedown. Use a good lube (like clp or Kroil or tetra or Remoil) in the action.

I use bearing grease on the internals of my ARs ... I run mostly piston guns. I even use that grease on the slides of my semi-auto handguns.

When going to the range, I will use gun grease on the bolts of my semi-autos.

For my carry guns, just very light oil, as I’m more concerned with second round function than wear. Kroil or Marvin’s Myster oil.

For stripping very old dried grease, I’ve found mineral spirits is good. This works good for taking caked grease and dirt off of stocks too.

Yes, I agree. I use the WalMart WD-40 as a wash after the carb cleaner then RemOil as the lube. (I should have added that info in my post.)

In place of kerosene, you might want to try mineral spirits to remove cosmoline- works extremely well and much faster. My big problem is trying to remember how to put the damned Mosin bolt assemblies back together properly ;-)

I keep going back to Hoppe’s. I use some other things... MPro-7, Break-Free... but I still get the best results with Hoppe’s. For treatment before putting away... always WD-40.

5 days, wow! Well the one I had couldn`t have benefited much from that cause it had more pits in it`s bore than a basket of cherries! Had to get rid of it,damn shame too, say, got any pointers on how to tell,thru all the cosmoline and gunk, if its even worth the 80 to 100 bucks they`re asking for in my area?
