LARGO, Fla. - A Largo woman is in jail on child abuse charges after the Largo Police Department claims she forced her 12-year-old son to walk two miles in the rain late Wednesday night, following a struggle over vodka.

I don’t see the problem here.
They should make people walk at least a mile to get their welfare checks and food stamps.

big deal...a 12 year old stole liquor....he needs punishment
at 12 I got a beer from dad maybe at deer camp or some wine served at Commanders Palace...(yes they would serve a kid if the parents said it was ok then)..or folded Egg Nog at Christmas or maybe Creme de Menthe parfait on occasion
had I stole my dad’s Maker’s Mark or Coors he’d “imported” from Dallas, he’d have my ass
it woulda been a whipping and then longer term suffering like grounding or work
REALLY? That isn’t even the point of the story. The Mom is a sot and fought with her son over alcohol.... the walk was incidental. The police would have arrested her for the same reasons if he had called 911 at the home
And if he had fought you while being drunk he too would have been arrested
It’s gonna rain this afternoon and I know my nearly 12 year old has done something worthy of punishment
I think I’ll have him walk the property for 30 minutes in the rain just to be sure..lol

how do we not know she just doesn’t want her 12 year old jacking her vodka...it ain’t right for kids to do that

She's a stupid drunk manhandling her 12 year old because he's getting in the way of her drinking. In other words, she's a drunk POS who can't keep her hands to herself.
That's a problem.
It's the headline.
It's the lead.
This is a non-story. There are plenty of drunks. There are plenty of unhappy families.
They don't deserve to be national news.
It's not my job to fix the problem.
Our government is $15T in debt because we keep getting outraged by non-stories and we keep thinking that "somebody should do something".
It's all a farce, and this story (and Trayvon Martin) are prime examples of how stpid stuff gets hyped for the masses.
My mother used to make me walk 2 miles to get her a pack of cigarettes when I was a kids.
I didn’t know I was so abused.
I don’t care what the headline writer chose to make the issue. The police arrested the mother because she left bruises and scratches on her son after a fight. She admitted this to the officers wen questioned. The hype comes in making light of people doing illegal things( as well as immoral). Treat it as a joke if you wish. As to the Martin/Zimmerman case, time will tell. It sounds like self-defense to me and the race hustlers are trying their damnedest to make it something else.
Until we as a people get our own houses in order the rest of society will continue to look like this
I certainly don't think a 2mile walk should be a criminal offense however. I don't know how back the scratches or neck grab was however.
