Unusually quiet in recent weeks, the New York Jets shattered the calm Wednesday by completing a trade for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow, the team confirmed.
The Jets will send a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos, a source said.
Tebow, a former first-round pick, went on the trading block Monday when the Broncos secured free agent Peyton Manning, who signed a five-year, $96 million contract.
Several teams expressed interest, including Tebow's hometown Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Jets -- perceived as a sleeper at the outset -- pulled off the splashiest trade of the offseason.

polarizing? No bias on ESPNs part there huh?
It will be fun watching Tebow get chased around by Mario Williams, now on the Bills
Go Bills!
For a 4th round draft pick?
What were the broncos thinking? Is that the best they could get?
I hope Manning fails in Denver, I know that’s bad, but I just do ...
I can root for the Broncos with Tebow. There is no way in hell I’ll root for the Jets with Tebow.
God help Elway and the Broncos should Manning get hurt early next season or if they do poorly. Especially since they pretty much just gave Tebow away. Their fans won’t put up with it.
ESPN is riddled with liberals. Encountered several of them at the outbreak of war after 911. Their comments on FOX news trailers were disgusting.
Tebow will be able to learn from Mark Sanchez. Uh oh!
Probably the best value they could get. There were very few teams interested in acquiring Tebow.

GOT THAT RIGHT
I’m having a hard time seeing Rex Ryan and Tim Tebow in the same organization somehow
that puts Stanton in 3rd place at QB AGAIN! Dang! A darned good QB at MSU
they want to push Sanchez but not too hard cause he’s soooo fragile.
Tebow won't start. Sanchez is the starter. Tebow's job will be to sit on the bench and watch the drama and fights between teammates.
He should use next year working on his footwork and his passing accuracy.
Good pickup for the Jets. They extended Sanchez, but now they have a spark off the bench if he regresses. With a pretty good line, they could make some things happen. They may even try and trade up for Richardson in the draft. The only problem is their defense regressed last year, and may not be able to carry them again. But a 4th for a backup with playoff experience, thats pretty good.
And for Denver, a 4th was a pretty decent return. DeMeco Ryans, a starting LB who has made the Pro Bowl twice was sent to Philly for a 4th, so this is probably the right range. Ryans may have gone for more, but has injury issues. I think the trade is good for both teams.
Yeah, I hear you. Me too. Too hell with Elway.
Probably. Not everyone thought he was a 1st rounder coming out of college. And players generally dont get traded for more than a 2nd, and that is if they are pretty dominant. Knowing that whoever took Tebow would be looking for at most a guy to compete as starter, I think 3rd or 4th would be realistic.
Why?
The Jets had no real backup last year.Tebow is probably every bit as good as Sanchez. Scratch that. Sanchez sucks but they traded up in the draft to get him and are going to shove him down their fans throats no matter what.
By polarizing, the writer really means Christian.
