1. Cadillac Escalade This full-size luxury SUV remains the King of Bling, best known for being the ride of choice among hip-hoppers, slam-dunkers and wise guys. Unfortunately, under objective evaluation its appeal is little more than skin deep. Consumer Reports slams the Escalade for its poor braking, handling and fuel economy, and its too-tiny third-row seat. It gets CR's worst marks for low reliability and high ownership costs, and is cited for being a poor value, performing inadequately in accident-avoidance tests and for having the worst fuel economy in its class (at 13/21 mpg city/highway).

Loving all that Consumer Union marxist agitprop!
Since when does FR allow marxist propaganda to be posted?
No FORDS on the list!......................;^)
What CR is good at is the reliability surveys it does with its readers. They send a survey out every year to the subscribers of its magazine. It is a very wide survey of actual owners. It is a much larger statistical group than others take.
However, their “stiff ride” is just an opinion. Of course a truck with leaf springs is going to have a bouncy ride. It rides better with 500 lbs in the back.
What CR is also very good at is testing appliances, TV’s , vacuum cleaners, etc. They go out and purchase 45 different refridgerators and test the sh#t out of them. Then print the results. They do not have advertising in the magazine and therefore less biased.
I passed up a Matchless that was fully restored with the side car in the 80s for $1800
*kicking my self in the arse*
And if you end up in a wreck with that “smart car”, you’ll look awfully dumb and dead.
>> “In general, Consumer Reports finds heavy-duty three-quarter-ton pickups to be among the most problematic vehicles in production.” <<
.
In general consumer reports is a commie crap rag.
The problem here is that CR is trying to make an SUV the same thing as a sports car and then trying to make that a touring car.
They aint the same.
Consumer reports is a fraud across the board. their tests are not even faintly objective, and each is designed around the desired outcome.
Their readers are 90% socialist idiots.
Have a 98 Ram quad cab. Never been back to the dealer or anybody for mechanic work.
Do all my own mechanic work, so far just starter, front end ball joints and shocks. Clear coat started lifting about 2 years ago, common paint problem with Rams, amazed mine lasted that long.
Will be getting something new this year, probably will go to Ford because current feelings about GM and Chrysler.
Was a pretty dependable truck, got my money's worth.
I have a gear shift knob for you! Its an aluminum cast cobras head LOL
Spot on. In a word, they do not quite have a grasp of the purposes for which a particular type of vehicle was designed and built.
Yup, figured as much.. didnt even need to read the story to figure it was all about those “Evil SUVs” and how bad they are.. lol
Its like the Green energy argument.
Solar aint diesel,diesel aint gas.
Almost all GM and Chrysler products...gee I’m surprised. ;-)
I must be one of the 10%, I think.
However, based on my experience with two Toyota Tacoma’s, 1 Honda Odessey, 1 Panasonic 42” plasma, 1 Amana French Door fridge, 1 Hotpoint gas range, 1 Honda Civic, 2 Samsung LCD TVs, 2 Dell laptops, and 1 KitchenAid dishwasher that I have owned based on their recommendations , I would respectfully disagree.
