As soon as word came through that Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos were ironing out a contract, the Tim Tebow questions began to fly.
The likeliest of outcomes seemed to be a trade.
But where?
Everyone's first instinct was the Jacksonville Jaguars. That doesn't appear likely, as reports say that Jags management doesn't have any interest in Tebow.
New England was mentioned as a possibility too because the guy who drafted him, Josh McDaniels, is now an offensive coordinator there and Bill Belichick loves going outside the box. Chances of that ever happening are slim, though.
The Miami Dolphins and their hated GM Jeff Ireland were mentioned, but that doesn't look promising after they signed David Garrard to compete with Matt Moore. Other teams with quarterback questions have already figured things out.
Late Manning entrants the San Francisco 49ers will go back to Alex Smith. The Seattle Seahawks settled on free agent Matt Flynn.
Cleveland has issues at QB, but is prepared to continue the Colt McCoy experiment. Even if the Browns were looking for a change, Tebow doesn't fit into team president Mike Holmgren's west coast offense.
Philadelphia has even been bandied about as a wild card possibility, but despite the Eagles coaching staff's success with QB projects, we don't see this happening.
Green Bay Packers, anyone?

"Jags management" = new Muslim owner, who would not be keen on an the devout Tebow's evangelizing.
I think Manning could help Tebow on a lot of areas - mechanics, reading defenses, etc.
I wouldn’t rule out a trade to the ‘Boys as Romo’s backup. And, aren’t the ‘Skins looking for a QB?
NY Jets
Aaron Rodgers spent an eternity as Favre's understudy, and look at him now.
I can’t stand the Mannings, including Daddy Manning, but Tim Tebow will be just fine. He knows that his life doesn’t hang on football. He has Jimmy Sexton and God who will sort all of this out, not necessarily in that order.
Actually, because of the larger field and twelfth man, isn’t Tebow’s style of play a good fit for the CFL? They seem to love fast, mobile quarterbacks up there instead of the Marino-type pocket passer, don’t they?

Who would he throw to anyway? They traded away Marshall last year. Where is the new Dallas Clark? The new Reggie Wayne. Nowhere. Scramble, scramble, with a weak O-line, until his vertebrae get crunched, and it's sayonara. This will not be pretty to watch.
No problem with his arm. He was in the superbowl 3 years ago, and was 11-5 the year after. He had a neck injury that cost him the last season. Before that, he never missed a game.
The neck is healed and better than ever, but the only question is whether the nerves and muscles recover in fast enough for this season. Obviously at 35, the body is not as tough as earlier, but Manning is a pocket passer who typically doesn’t take many hits. He throws away when there is not a play to be made. I assume if guys like Elway and a variety of doctors, coaches and trainers have watched him throw and looked at his health records, they see that he is ready to play. I would not doubt to see him in at least one more Super Bowl (although Denver has some holes to fill to get the rest of the team ready for that kind of run).
I was at the first ever Bills AFL game in July 1960, when they lost to the Boston Patriots. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Hey, the NFL hated Doug Flutie, too - but it worked out for him in the end.
I agree, not a bad idea, but Tebow may not want to go back to back-up status. However, it would be extremely telling if Ted Thompson, the Packer’s GM, picks up Tebow or chooses not to consider him. Thompsn is a skin flint and won’t spend much on players, but if the prioce were right and Thompson thought Tebow actually had genuine potential, I could see this happening. My guess is that the Broncos will want to much in draft picks.
Oh yeah, perfect fit. Learn from the master. LOL!
Hit me the same way. Possibility of injury much higher I would think, so unless Elway is against Tebow it makes a lot of sense to keep him and keep him happy at the same time. Now there is the trick. He played some great freshman ball for Denver last year.
Hmm. Where have I heard that before?

His leadership ability is totally off the scale. His technical/mechanical ability, not so much.
Actually, trading him would be the nicest thing to do. He gets to go somewhere where the management wants him, gets to compete for the start, and gets to keep his contract.
No QB wants to be a backup, especially one that has a playoff win. If Elway hated Tebow, then he would keep him without trying to trade him.
A lot depends on (or should depend on) if Peyton Manning is able to return to form and stay healthy for the coming season. I’m a huge fan of both the Mannings, but I’ll also be the first to admit that Peyton is a gamble at this point. He was one of the best that’s ever played the game, but whether that will be the case after at 36 after a yearlong absence and a severe neck injury, is not a given. I hope he does come back and wins another ring or two, but hopes and reality aren’t always the same thing.
As for Tebow...I feel for the guy. He’s done everything that’s been asked of him, and helped turn a losing team into a playoff bound one. Yet, I think the long-term view of Elway and other types is that last season was a fluke (not Sandra Fluke, lol) and he’s not going to be a long-term winner at QB. Personally, I think Tebow hasn’t yet reached the limits of his potential. He’ll never be a Manning or Dan Marino when it comes to his passing, but he will continue to get better if given the chance. A few years as understudy somewhere could give him the chance to develop his arm and round out his game.
They just dumped half this year’s draft and their first rounders for 2013 and 2014 for RG3. It seems doubtful they will want fans to have Tebow around to scream for when, as is likely, their prize doesn’t immediately set the NFL on fire. The Big 12 and the Eastern Division of the NFC are worlds apart and it can take a lot of time for even the most elite and talented QB’s to adapt and perform.
jets just scarfed up drew stanton... drew has a much better arm, natural insticts and can run with the ball...
