If you're like us, you can't wait for Memorial Day, the unofficial start of barbeque season. There's nothing quite like spending the evening with a cold beer and a plate piled high with chilled coleslaw, thick-cut French fries, and succulent barbeque...

Kansas City MO is the best IMHO
The list of cities, btw:
7. St. Louis, MO
6. Nashville, TN
5. Austin, TX
4. Lexington, NC
3. Kansas City, MO
2. Lockhart, TX
1. Memphis, TN
Not on the “Top 7” list, but I have had some mighty fine ‘cue in Chicago. My uncle in Pensacola says there are some first rate BBQ restaurants in the Panhandle.
Was just at Jack’s no too long ago in Nashville TN and have been to Gates in KC a couple years back. Both excellent but I’ll give the nod to Gates in KC.
Little store in Lexa, Arkansas that sells a great pulled pork sandwich.
Another little joint, not sure it’s still there, is in Y-City, Arkansas. Man, I wish I had me a pulled pork sandwich with some cole slaw and some bbq sauce that makes your lips tingle.
I had BBQ chicken tonight. On the grill over hot coals, with a BBQ sauce made from onions, catsup, vinegar, beer, brown sugar, and coffee. Smoked over pecan and rosemary.
Give that to someone from North Carolina, and they would say it's crap, and not BBQ.
There is no best. But it's all good.

Went to Arthur Bryant’s in KC and do not understand what all the fuss is about. Tasted more like roast beef.
Good starts on sauces.....but add finely ground pecans to the sauce. You’ll thank me.
If season don’t open ‘till Memorial Day then I guess I’m a dang ol poacher.
I smoke meat yearound
There is no best. But it’s all good.
That’s about it. I’ve had BBQ in many places and 95% was good.
That sauce sounds really good!
And I agree, the “best” is ultimately what you like the most. The pig is my favorite when it comes to BBQ - ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, hot-smoked homemade sausages, etc. - but I like chicken and turkey from the smoker just as well. Sauce on at the very end for poultry and pulled pork, but basted on the ribs a bit before serving.
As for beef, my research is incomplete. I don’t really care for beef spareribs, but I’m told a good slow smoked brisket (which I’ve never had) is a thing of beauty.
coffee, eh?
Now I’m curious.
Rudys is hit or miss
The quality control is poor.
I ate in Waco and id was notable.
I ate in Denton and it sucked.
Love BBQ, pulled pork with mayo based slaw and a sweet/spicy tomato base sauce..
Around Nashville some of my favorites are Tom’s Blue Moon, Jack’s, and Martin’s
Yep...agree. Best I have had in my travels was a place called Vals in Altus Oklahoma near the USAF base there an a small place just outside the Aberdeen proving grounds in Maryland. Favorite BBQ places on my list.
But make a point of trying all BBQ I can find.
I like all of it but as others have stated its all about the quality an care in prep an presentation.
Damn.... Now I’m hungry !.,..:o)
Stay safe !
I like a place near Ft Hood called Scheopf’s
Some of the best Ive had is pulled pork sandwiches on the side of the road wrapped in wax paper with al the fixins a bag of chips and a coke.
where is Jacks?....we ate a great pulled pork sandwhich somewhere on that main street but I forget the name...
It’s downtown close to the arena, Tootsie’s, etc. on Broadway
The best brisket I’ve ever had:
