Just curious. I'm sure they do. I served for over 5 years and don't remember encountering any Mormons in the time I served.
I knew several Mormons in the ‘Corps. All infantry.
great info. I wondered this too..
And thank you and your family for your service to our country.
Excellent point. Which is why I created the post.
Was he born in the church or a convert? Did he serve an LDS mission at age 19?
Yes, they do,
but NOT the Romney’s.
And I’ll be praying for your brother that he comes out of the darkness and into the light of Christ.
It is very unsual is what I am getting at and during the draft a lot of Mormons didn’t serve esp if they could get a draft exemption. Romney is proof.
He was born in the church, and served an LDS mission when he was 19.
Did you serve a mission before you joined the Army?
Even more unusual. It isn’t as common as it is with other groups.
“And Ill be praying for your brother that he comes out of the darkness and into the light of Christ.”
Well, whether I agree with you, I do appreciate your kind thoughts regarding the well-being of his soul.
“the other found Jesus, married a cajun girl and joined a Baptist church.”
No disrespect to anyone, but there is a good song in that story, somewhere.
Three of my Brothers were drafted. Two were married and it destroyed one marriage, and the other four years older than me almost starved with his wife.
I and my younger brothers joined to avoid the draft when we would have been drafted after we were married.
My son joined after serving a mission and the draft had ended.
I didn’t but my youngest brother did.
Also my wife’s brother served in the Air Force after serving a mission.
There are many who join after serving a mission.
Some do. Romneys don't. Never have; probably never will.
Perhaps his serving a mission then going into the military is a bit out of the ordinary, statistically. Interestingly, BYU currently has ROTC programs for Army and Air Force, but does not now have an ROTC program for the Navy, and I’m not sure why. My brother graduated from BYU in the 80s, and there was a Navy ROTC program at that time, although I don’t know if it was on campus. I’m not sure when it was discontinued.
Hmmmm... well there you go. Mormons defeated the Nazi’s from all their service. So I’m wondering, if a mormon became President how would it be any different than the muslim we have now? I wonder about that. What exactly do mormons stand for? Do mormons revere Isreal as the true residence of the Holy of Holies, or does the “temple” in SLC trump that? What does it mean to be a “temple mormon” anyway? Do you get special pajamas? Are mormons, in general, required support Mittens?
We believe in Honoring Sustaining and Upholding the law of the land. Church members in general desire that the Constitution be followed. The Church does not advocate violating laws in the name of the Church.
There are some like Harry Reid who do not believe the same as the Church in general.
We believe that Israel is dedicated to the return of the Jews.
We believe that Christ's temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem
There is no designation of “Temple Mormons” in the Church.
That is someones description of active members who attend Temple Worship. I used the term because someone asked a question, and it was easier to use his term to describe myself as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The official church policy is that we should be active in political and civic affairs.
The Church does not advocate for, or endorse individuals or partys.
Political subjects cannot be advocated from the Pulpit.
Personally I would rather have Palin or Cain as president.
I am not if favor of Romney because he is a North-East Liberal like a lot of other RINO politicians.
I also opposed Harry Ried for re-election.
Being a member of the Church is not as important as following the Constitution.
Being a member of the Church is a personal decision and not for telling others what to believe or do.
