Wish him all the best!
Bad move, IMO. Whoever they draft is going to need a senior leader to help him with the transition from college ball to the big leagues. Besides ... the team needs more than just a new QB ... that entire team sucked last season.
Best of luck to him.
He had a great career — but a neck injury is nothing to take lightly.
I was hoping he would retire especially with a neck injury. It won’t feel right seeing him in another jersey.
$28 million gets freed up for the Colts to start rebuilding their team
Wishing him all things great, and praying his neck heals 100%. Gonna miss him.
Manning would almost have to be out of his mind to want to play any more professional football at this point.
Hope he does well finding a worthy team now he is rid of the useless Colts.
I concur with several posters in this thread: With an injured neck? Why chance it?
Money? Another ring?
Is it worth the risk? Really?
Who says he hasn't. He may never play another down.
Sorry to hear this, though it’s not unexpected, given the $28 million the Colts would have had to pay out to Manning.
I wish Peyton well with whatever he opts for - retirement, another team, coaching, what have you. I could care less about the Colts’ organization. Jim Irsay is as big a jerkwad as his daddy was.
We can use him in SF...and get a couple more Super Bowl victories out of it.
Peyton....if you still want to play, I have the perfect place for you.....
Seattle.
C’mon....you know you wanna try.
How ironic if he winds up with the Chargers, just like Johnny U.
Let’s hope that Peyton was smart with his money. That will allow him to retire and purse other endeavors. He’s got a lot of years ahead of him and he should live them in good health. Best of luck, fella. You were a terrific QB.
I have seen too many college football players (i.e., those not good enough to play extra years in the pros) with significant physical injuries, artificial kness and the like. At some point, you have to say “enough is enough”.
As a football fan in general, I am sad to see this turn of events. Great athlete, ferocious competitor and general class act.
I am a Pats fan, and I am disappointed to see this in that it completely takes the air out of this important, fun and interesting rivalry that had developed.
But if he does play, I want him to be as far away as is humanly possible, out of the AFC, and preferably on the other side of the world.
He takes too many years off of my life when he plays the Patriots.
Fair winds and following seas to wherever his fortune takes him. He is a good man and a Hall of Famer,
Just as long as my team only sees him once every few years...:)
NOTE: Nearly every Patriots fan in my circle that I know would echo this sentiment. Nothing but respect in these circles.
I will miss this guy. I was so wanting them to keep him anyway, but they were thinking long term, I guess.
28 million bucks is a lot when you may be injured again. I would have felt bad too if he would have had another awful injury while playing here.
Sad day for Indy. I will be for whoever he plays for though. Right thing to do.
