Best thing for Peyton to do is retire, then get ready to be hired for the Tennessee coaching job.

Bad move, IMO. Whoever they draft is going to need a senior leader to help him with the transition from college ball to the big leagues. Besides ... the team needs more than just a new QB ... that entire team sucked last season.

Best of luck to him.
He had a great career — but a neck injury is nothing to take lightly.

No, we need him at Ole Miss!
To: Perdogg
I was hoping he would retire especially with a neck injury. It won’t feel right seeing him in another jersey.

They have to let him go or they cannot afford to get more than just a new QB. $28 million is freed up.

Manning would almost have to be out of his mind to want to play any more professional football at this point.
To: al_c
Way too risky to commit $28 millon for someone who may not play again; especially when the Colts have no chance to go deep in the playoffs with or without a healthy Peyton Manning.
To: MuttTheHoople
I’d love to see him as head coach at UT. Things haven’t been the same since Fulmer left. Manning is a UT legend. You would be surprised how many 13 year olds that are named Peyton living in the Volenteer state.

Not a surprise, but after last season, it is obvious he was carrying the whole team. Hard to believe he was that pivotal to them winning. No one needs that sort of expectation and burden.
Hope he does well finding a worthy team now he is rid of the useless Colts.

I concur with several posters in this thread: With an injured neck? Why chance it?
Money? Another ring?
Is it worth the risk? Really?

Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts had both hoped he would play his entire NFL career with that franchise.Who says he hasn't. He may never play another down.
