Democrats quick to use quote to accuse Romney of being out of touch By Mark Russell, Newser Staff
(Newser) Mitt Romney's attempts to show he's just a regular guy continue to go awry. At an appearance at the Daytona 500 yesterday (which was rained out for the first time in history), Romney was asked by an AP reporter if he follows NASCAR. "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans. But I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners," he replied.
No big surprise that Democrats were quick to use the sound bite to paint Romney as out of touch with regular voters because of his extreme wealth, reports CBS News. "I don't know people who fish but I know people who own yachts," joked one Democratic Party operative on Twitter. The remark comes just a few days after a flub in Michigan, where he noted his wife drives "a couple of Cadillacs."
Each and every week, RINOmney must consult his “how to screw things up book in order to find a phrase which further demonstrates his vapid dorkiness.
No political instinct. None. GONG. Thanks for playing.
My real problem is with his ridiculous attempts to prove he’s just like me. I wonder when the last time was that he ate bread with mayo because that’s what there was till payday?
None of them are like me but its agitating to see Romney trying to pull it off.
Good for him. Why hide the fact? If not for NASCAR team owners, I guess there’d be no NASCAR (something I’d lose no sleep over, but millions seem to love it). I just refuse to bash a candidate because he’s wealthy.
Yes, but does he know team owners in all 57 states?
I think it’s impossible for teh very wealthy to be “in touch” with the rest of us.
For many of us, a $1000 purchase requires some thought, but to a Romney, Pelosi, or Kennedy, they just do it.
So event tickets cost $2000 to get your posse there- what is that compared to the cost of taking the jet out?
I do admire Romney for coming up with things like “I don’t follow NASCAR as ardently as those who follow it more than I do”.
tagline...IowaHawk
It’s not rained out yet. It is rain delayed. It has been rain delayed by a few days in the past.
The statement “...first time in history.” is false.
You can afford mayo?.........you’re eatin’ high on the hog!..........
The democrats must be joking.
Obama hangs out with Hollywood millionaires and billionaires like Steven Speilberg all the time.
He also hobknobs with corporate titans like Jeffrey Imelt and Warren Buffet, and gives them tax breaks and tax exemptions at the taxpayers expense.
Hypocrisy.
As for Romney, he looks out of place at a NASCAR race....
same thing when he wears a pair of blue jeans with a dress shirt.
It’s the campaign discipline. He keeps giving fodder to the opposition.
It’s not YOU bashing him that I’m worried about.
A basic tenet of Obamunism is that it is bad, bad, bad for people to accumulate wealth that hasn’t been scammed from taxpayers with the help of the government, or extorted from them directly by the government.
/s
They lost me after they outlawed the "Winged Birds" back in 70' or 71' after that the cars got ugly and dorky.
They are just getting to Fuel Injection Now? Really? When the rest of the world is going Turbo Direct Injection?
All these Auto Governing Bodies Stink, Tecno-Ludites, F1 included.
Democrats ridicule people who are successful. Yet, they worship people that acquire wealth by other means such as inheritance like the Kennedys, scamming the government like Charlie Rangle, Jamie Gorelick, Harry Reid and Franklin Raines, or pulling of an incredible hoax like Al Gore and Barack Obama.
This just in:
“Romney seen leaving the Joe Biden Speaking Institute after receiving refresher training”
Rotflmao!!
Paging Captain Obvious!
Well, Mitt, I don't talk as much as those who talk more than I do.
I don't run as much as those who run more than I do.
I don't sweat as much as those who sweat more than I do.
And I DAMN SURE don't GAFFE as much as YOU DO!
To this day I hate maccaroni and cheese because we lived on it when I was a kid.
Unfortunately with the way things are going I’m going to be eating a lot of it in the future.
M&C is cheap, but is bad for your cholesterol. My wife hates it for the same reasons you cite, but I love it, even though we had it as a kid for the same reasons.....
