Sounds like A Hollywood thing to give her a Oscar then.
It was very funny.
Not to the folks at Kodak /sarc ...
I was AMAZED when I saw that “Undefeated” had won the Oscar for Documentary, thinking how on earth could the Academy have voted for Sarah Palin’s movie. Then I saw that it was about some sports team. Bah.
She is right....half of America did moan....Oh, No not her
Yep. I was one of them. I hear the thatcher movie was more about her slipping into Alzheimer’s than her historic partnership with Reagan to bring down the evil empire. She might have been good but she probably was happy to downplay why thatcher was important. It wasn’t because she could stand up to the boys. It was because she had a worldview of freedom and put her worldview into action.
Haven't seen the flick - just clips ...
BUT, I have a Brit friend who says that Streep's portrayal of Thatcher's mannerisms were spot-on and some of the historical scenes were TOTALLY accurate ...
HOWEVER, the script DID portray her INACCURATELY in many spots ...
He did say that Streep DID deserve the Oscar for having TOTALLY embodied Thatcher - kind of like Helen Mirren in The Queen ...
Most likely it is posted on Youtube by now. Hopefully, it’s not blocked by ABC network.
Youtube.com is the best place to look for videos.
Interesting... thanks for those “Iron Lady” links in #129, Mozilla.
I really liked "The Artist". I'm still not convinced it was "Oscar-worthy", but I liked it. Really liked Jean Dujardin in the film... I thought he deserved the Oscar.
Anyone see the snarky Oscar comments on this website?

I don't know anything about this site - got it from a Drudge link. Some pretty interesting stuff posted there.
A person with any class would have declined the role.
What did she need it for - her big break?
Her award was for lending her star name to their sick propaganda.

Get my drift?
It wasn’t a Hollywood film to begin with. British/French production.

Billy had a few slow moments but overall did good. Some people might think he took no risks compared to other hosts. But the Academy is probably satisfied and even relieved with his steady hosting tonight.

I agree that Billy C did a good job. Interaction between Melissa McCarthy and Billy was interesting...
About jokes about GOP...I wasn’t angered by them...When Billy C mentioned the 14% tax rate, I just chuckled...I don’t think there was any Sarah Palin joke.
There were worse Oscar shows than this...2012 show wasn’t too bad.
Christopher Plummer won an Oscar for portraying an old man who decided to declare his homosexuality...In his speech, Plummer thanked his family for most part. No, Plummer did not mention gay marriage.
A few years ago, Ang Lee won an Oscar for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. In his speech, Lee expressed his support for gays.
Interesting contrast...
He did say that Streep DID deserve the Oscar for having TOTALLY embodied Thatcher - kind of like Helen Mirren in The Queen ...

Michael Medved said that the film was not too good although Streep did a good job.
I did like QUEEN...
Streep’s speech wasn’t too bad...Congratulations to her.
