Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg is out with a must-read polling memo this morning, which offers some eye-opening advice to President Obama and his re-election team. After testing several of the presidents economic messages, he finds the argument that the economy is back on the right track polls miserably and produces disastrous results.
It is weaker than even the weakest Republican message and is 10 points weaker in intensity than either Republican message, Greenberg wrote. A third said this message made them less likely to support Barack Obama. Alarmingly, this message barely receives majority support among self-identified Democrats and even less support among all other groups.
The memo reads as a glaring wake-up call to the White House, which has been trumpeting improving economic figures lately. Greenberg notes that voters are reporting no improvement in their job situation since last June, and have experienced reduced wages and benefits and health insurance coverage. The picture Greenbergs polling paints is an America public still deeply pessimistic about their future, and skeptical of Obamas handling of the economy.

Don’t get too confident. Obamanation is a sitting president, which historically get re-elected unless there is a disaster. The question is if we are allowed to see the disaster.
Keep in mind, white guilt is still rampant, the minority vote will still mostly vote for Obama, and Latino’s will be voting for him as well;
I went to the Hospital today for a routine test. When registering I was asked what language I wanted to carry out the conversation. I responded (kidding) “Portuguese”. She didn’t even smile. Mind you, I am speaking English to her the whole time up until then. I look white. I have Midwestern accent. I am in a predominantly white area. But she HAD to ask, no option evidently. Then she -had- to ask if I considered myself Hispanic. I am starting to wonder if being honest is working against me.
And I am thinking Obama is still likely to win.
I stated in December 2008 that Obama would be a one-term wonder because the economic depression would still be deepening in 2012, and would sink him.
This is why the GOP’s “electibility” argument is non-sensical. It doesn’t matter who runs against Obama, since it is the economy that will beat him, not the GOP candidate. A soup spoon running on the economy can beat Obama.
This is also why it was perfect timing to run a far-right conservative, as they were going to be elected no matter how unpalatable their social issues to the far left and the media.
Instead, the GOP surrenders yet again shoving RINOs down our throat. I swear, they are Frenchmen.
I’m also still furious Palin didn’t get in the race and make the attempt. I don’t want Romney for president. Make that, we can’t afford RINO Romney for president, and he sure as hell is NOT more electible than the rest of the GOP field.
“This self righteous punk must go”
Amen!, Amen! Amen!
Well, I can tell you that in the past three years, I have gone from a traveling salesman who could not afford the gas, to a sitting by the phone salesman who barely managed to cover the phone bill, to a retired salesman, who makes more from SS than he did in sales.
More than anyone here on FReeRepublic.com.
You nailed it.
The Obama administration’s MSM minions will spout an avalanche of lies before the election, all proclaiming that jobs are up, unemployment is down, and the recovery is underway. As you noted, people’s direct experiences will trump everything else. Nobody will care about official unemployment rates or jobless claims.
All thtey will see is that the wife got laid off and they are down to one slim income, the college kids are both living at home, and they can’t repair the 2nd car because food bills and rising gas are taking their spare money.
Obama is toast. Pray we don’t nominate Romney or other RINO.
Obama is ripping this country to shreds. This is no truth in public discourse anymore. I cannot believe the lies and distortions this man blatantly tells without being called out. If the corrupt media would tell Americans the truth, Obama would be lucky to poll above 20%. I don’t see how the Republican party has a chance against the corrupt left. We aren’t even allowed to call them out on the destruction of the country without getting chided by Jeb Bush, McCain, and other “Republican” leaders. Look what they did to Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.
I’m sure the obammas will milk the system in a way that will make bill clinton look like a hick from Arkansas.
Gots to be a gig where I can go on all expense paid vacations and work very little for it??
Guess there can be only one queen.
Here's the election in summary.
We have to win the 08 McLame states (not that difficult)
Flip Indiana (I've got that one covered - it's a lock)
Flip Ohio and Florida (possible)
Flip Pennsylvania (difficult) or VA + NC
“A hick from Arkansas”
Which Clinton is. And yes, better count the cans of salmon before the Obama’s leave.
