Interesting that it was described here as something the little man wanted. Back in the day, it seems, he was expected to pay income taxes too.

Never let a crisis go to waste, even if it is when your country is in a fight for its very survival. The Marxists knew what they were doing, even then.

Anybody got a bead on what SP that is in the picture? It looks to me like its a French 155mm GPF, 1938 model.

Cougar;

I don’t like using Wikipedia as a source, but it appears to be a M1931 203mm howitzer, per the link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/203_mm_howitzer_M1931_%28B-4%29

You can even build a model of it if you wish:

http://compare.ebay.com/like/400129418860?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

Only 70 bucks on e-bay!

I do believe you are correct. I really was having trouble believing it was a French made gun, though I guess that isn’t impossible. But that definitely looks right.

As far as using wiki, I have to say that pictures is one of the few things it’s good for. And as my wife says, its a good source when the question only has one answer.

I find it useful for confirming an answer that I already know. If it differs from my recollection, it's time to dig. If it agrees with my memory, then it must be right.
