Newt will win Georgia, but it won’t be the proportions people here think....I think Santorum is doing damage.

That, coupled with the media’s lack of good coverage for Newt (i.e., portraying him as losing and fighting to get back). Newt is getting good crowds here, at least in the three places he was recently at, but the news isn’t telling it. The loss of a debate venue here certainly isn’t helping him, also.

Honestly? I think the amount of win is going to boil down to the latest and greatest TV commercials and phone calls, myself...if Newt has the bucks and he wants it bad enough he could up his numbers. If he wins by a nose, he’s done.

Do I really need to read 100+ posts to see if posting a county straw poll result in Breaking News is just plain dumb?

Not sure you intended this post for me.

Personally I dont think Santorum can win the GE. Just because he has less baggage does not make him electable.

His boring personality not much of a help either.

IMHO

Newt is the only candidate who seems aware of how bad things are, and how much has to change to fix it. I think it’s too late, but I’d like to give Newt a chance. Newt Gingrich is a knowledgeable leader.

The rest of the pack are naive about the condition of the country and magnitude of the solution. They are merely political appeasers.

Obama, Santorum, Paul, Romney — certain doom.
Gingrich — some hope.

My vote is guns, food, gold and silver.

Still cannot figure what Newt plans to run on since he’s already surrendered each and every issue that would draw stark contrasts between himself and Obamba.

If what you are looking for is nothing more than a BIG TENT (moderate)republican, Newt’s your guy. McLame’s 2008 defeat proved that it’s not a winning position.

That’s what I’m doing. VA may be the only state Paul wins.

Newt’s flat tax proposal is revolutionary. It would dramatically simplify the federal tax code for a lot of people. Santorum’s proposal pales in comparison.

This POLL is from the SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER... home of the 9th circus.. America's LIBERAL center.

I trust this poll as far as I could throw the bay area bridge.

Nope, I’m not kidding.

I am for the only one capable of getting the job done of turning this country around, quickly and intelligently.

Perhaps you think that the owner of this forum is also “ridiculous”.... he likes both of them.

I am for stopping Romney in any way possible.

As for president, I am for Newt Gingrich...“Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”

“Santorum has an excellent shot at 0 if he’s the nominee. :-)”

You are right PreciousLiberty. I voted for Gingrich here in Florida but I am certainly thrilled that Santorum is doing well.

Santorum is poliing better than all candidates against Obama (not that I put my faith in polls). Santorum or Gingrich as the nominee will be a victory for conservatives.

As I wrote at my blog http://www.TableOfWisdom.com “I believe Rick Santorum stands a reasonable chance win this. As a bystander I noticed that Rick is not overly dynamic when he’s just going out to make a political stump speech. HOWEVER, he was very impressive the way he “undressed” Romney over his Romneycare excuses in the recent debate in Jacksonville.

Like an adroit prosecutor, Santorum methodically tied Romney in knots with the very prosaic excuses Romney offered during that debate. It was so embarrassing to Romney that all he could offer was a smirk that was a poor attempt to veil his consternation.

Then as Santorum repeatedly blasted him with those upper-cuts - Blitzer was panic stricken and interrupted “we’ve got to move on... we’ve got to move on”

It was quite an impressive thing to behold and it shed a fresh perspective on what Rick is capable of doing in a debate. Watch the expressions of Romney as Santorum lands his upper-cuts. You can see glass-jaw Mitt smirking as he doesn’t know what to do. Then notice that despite the fact that this type of moment is exactly what a network hosting a debate would be expected to encourage if they wanted a great debate with a noteworthy moment of impact if only for the sake of ratings, despite that fact - notice how Wolf Blitzer jumps in saying “let’s move on... we’ve got to move on”. They clearly wanted to fix this fight and protect thier paper champion because they know who they want their ultimate paper champion Obama to face in this race come November. This is a classic and telling moment of what an Obama v. Romney “debate” would look like. Take a good look at what the Romney camp does NOT want you to see...”

http://youtu.be/ewkg7RiGKKQ

This was the Jacksonville debate where Newt seemed to mortally wound himself by being worn out or just unprepaired. Look at Newt shaking his head in the backgroud as Santorum DISMANTLES the RINO.

Then watch with pleasure once again as Rick adroitly castigates Charlie Rose.

http://youtu.be/b-onEj0yLkk

Again, I voted for Newt and still love old Newt. That being said, Santorum is proving to be everything I wanted Newt to be.

Rick isn’t going to make a shallow speech full of theatrics with Greek Temple stage. He’s just going to kicj Barack Obama’s ass like a skilled prosecutor.

So your solution is to basically ignore everything that is bad about Santorum

Seems fair, since you are asking us to ignore all the baaaad you overlook in whomever your candidate is.

No, no I wouldn’t.

No 100-vote straw poll belongs in Breaking News, ever. I don’t care if it is for the second coming of Ronald Reagan.

Newt has a proven RECORD. Don't know about you, but I consider the Contract With America and pushing job creation, a balance budget and welfare reform as quite a stark contrast with Obama. I like Newt's flat tax plan, would prefer a fair tax, but gotta start somewhere. I love the way he would stand up to the extremist activist judiciary and push Congress to oppeal Obamacare, and he would! The thing is I have no doubt Newt can get it done. Santorum, not so much. The E would accept Santorum because he's "safe," he can be controlled and not rock the boat too much. Newt has proven accomplishments and has proven that he can get real things done, even with Bill Clinton who has an ego about the size of or bigger than Obama. What proven accomplishments does Santorum have? Seriously, you're not comparing Santorum's accomplishments with Newt's? LOL.

I have often pointed out, that if Santorum gets the nomination and Newt gets thrown under the bus, I will be permanently done with this party.

This stupidity goes so far over the top, and Santorum is that bad of a candidate and will make an even worse President, that I will go 3rd party and vote for Newt and Sarah Palin, after they form the Tea Party.

Because hopefully a Brokered Convention, or a legitimate rise of the Tea Party with Newt and Sarah at the head, takes charge and puts a stop to this insanity.

do you think Santorum is going to be able to out debate BO in the general election; particularly, when the MSM will be hosting these events, asking the questions, and pronouncing the winner? i wish i had your faith. i feel with Newt our chances are better in controlling the MSM propaganda organ.

“If you’re talking about this weekend, Santorum wasn’t even talking about Obama’s Christianity; only that Obama is suppressing religious liberties w/ his secular “theology”.

i wish that Santorum would have said that BO’s worshiping at Rev Wright’s hate America first altar was what he was talking about. people need to be reminded of our prez’s religious affiliations. it took 20 years and a presidential primary for BO to realize what the Rev Wright was talking about?

"In many states, anti-Romney voters would be smart enough to coalesce behind Paul for strategic reasons, but not the Virginians."

Why not? In the Virginia primary, there are two choices on the ballot: Romney or Paul. And no write-in option. It's either stay home, or vote for the lunatic and try to deny Romney our delegates.

Succinctly, bullshit! The conservatives didn’t vote for Santorum because he endorsed Toomey. FR is not the place for revisionist history.
Santorum, from the Latin: disaster in the wings, catastrophe.
