Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on what happened last night at the Grammys:
Nicki Minaj, fresh off looking like a fool with Madonna at the Super Bowl, showed up last night on the red carpet at the Grammys with a guy dressed like the pope. This was just a prelude of what was to come.
Minajs performance began on stage with a mock confessional skit. This was followed by a taped video depicting a mock exorcism. With stained glass in the background, she appeared on stage again with choir boys and monks dancing.
Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Finally, Come All Ye Faithful was sung while a man posing as a bishop walked on stage; Minaj was shown levitating.
None of this was by accident, and all of it was approved by The Recording Academy, which puts on the Grammys. Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam.
Its bad enough that Catholics have to fight for their rights vis-à-vis a hostile administration in Washington without also having to fend off attacks in the entertainment industry. The net effect, however, will only embolden Catholics, as well as their friends in other faith communities.

What was the intention of this young woman’s heart when she created this performance?
Has she been repressed, with a need to challenge moral authority whom she does not respect?
Thank you, Nicki, for allowing the entire country participate in your therapy session by sharing in the revulsion of your performance.
The powers that be are assaulting Christianity on every front. The new budget proposal from the President wants to financially support the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been steadily persecuting Christians in Egypt and elsewhere.
Hollywood supports this action by its support of the President.
When, oh when, will this madness end?
She’s just ugly.
Keep in mind: she couldn’t be a star if she didn’t have fans — and lots of them. The problem is not just her; it is the society she reflects. And that is the harrowing part of it all.
I did not waste my time watching the Grammy’s. However, if you were scandalized by her performance, please email the individual listed and give her an earful.
Twitter exploded following her performance last night, and even Sherri Shepherd saw fit to comment on the act.
“Watching Nicki Minaj...didn’t know whether2 dance or pull out my Bible and lay hands on the tv...2 old for the #Grammys.”

When you have zero talent this is the type of thing you resort to. Otherwise she would not even be a footnote to the skilled performers who took the stage last night.
Roman Holiday sucked 23 minutes ago
She should have just peformed “Super Bass”. It is the only reason she was at the Grammys.

Defend it all you want, Nicki. The performance sucked. Not because of the perceived insult to the Catholic church, but because it was noise, not music.

God she is stupid.
Even “Shinehead” O’Connor would have winced.

Nicki Minajs Grammy performance has angered the Catholic League
By Jen Chaney
In what should come as zero surprise to anyone who watched Nicki Minaj attempt to reenact The Exorcism of Emily Rose during her performance at Sundays Grammy Awards, the Catholic League has issued a statement condemning the actions of the Superbass star.
As predicted by our own Maura Judkis, the faith-based organization whipped up an angry news release written by Catholic League president Bill Donohue as a response to Minajs rendition of her song Roman Holiday. Donohue mocked Minaj but primarily blamed the Recording Academy for allowing the number to air, a notable fact given that the executive producer of the Grammys and Minaj have told conflicting stories about how the performance got approved. More on that in a moment. First, the angry press release.
So far neither the Recording Academy nor Minaj has issued a response to the Catholic Leagues open letter.
Shes a publicity whore.
You got part of it right anyhow.............
I don’t watch that garbage.
And do ya think the best way to counteract it would be to ignore her?
She is crazy, but not possesed.
Contrast that garbage with Adele.
“Even Shinehead OConnor would have winced.”
Well even Nicki Minag would make Lady Gaga look like a saint.
I am just happy that I shut the tv off right after the Glen Campbell honor presentation, when music was truly music. Glad that Adele won in a sweep, other than for the music oldies but goodies, Adele at least brought some sense of sanity to the show.
Adele was and is truly a breath of fresh air.
By voting Obama out of office.
