Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on what happened last night at the Grammys:
Nicki Minaj, fresh off looking like a fool with Madonna at the Super Bowl, showed up last night on the red carpet at the Grammys with a guy dressed like the pope. This was just a prelude of what was to come.
Minajs performance began on stage with a mock confessional skit. This was followed by a taped video depicting a mock exorcism. With stained glass in the background, she appeared on stage again with choir boys and monks dancing.
Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Finally, Come All Ye Faithful was sung while a man posing as a bishop walked on stage; Minaj was shown levitating.
None of this was by accident, and all of it was approved by The Recording Academy, which puts on the Grammys. Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam.
Its bad enough that Catholics have to fight for their rights vis-à-vis a hostile administration in Washington without also having to fend off attacks in the entertainment industry. The net effect, however, will only embolden Catholics, as well as their friends in other faith communities.

She’s a publicity whore.
Who?
No. Not possessed. Just another no-talent skank looking for some attention.
Exactly. Ignore her and she’ll go away.
Possessed of bad taste? Yes, certainly...otherwise, nah. These people scorn and ridicule religious values so this is just stage props and choreography to them.
Good news is that it is being panned across all political lines and basically all humans. Everyone so far that has commented on it from tv shows to internet sites have hated it. Thought it was a complete mess (which it certainly was).
Who?
Oh, some celebrity nut I never heard of until Bill Donohue told me about her.
Nice going, Bill!
Apparently she’s Trinidadian and Tobaggan.
if she mocked Islam the criminal media would be talking about he “hateful”, “hostile”, “inflammatory” performance...but since its Catholics/Chrisitans media will let it pass....
Possessed of stupid.
When are they going to dance around dressed up like Mohammed?
Right before their Headless Horseman routine...
No. She'll be on Maury's "Who's My Baby Daddy"....over and over and over again, but yet never know who her baby daddy is.
Nicki Minaj Calls Grammy Performance Roman’s ‘Coming-Out Party’
‘I’ve been writing this story for a long time,’ rapper tells Ryan Seacrest of her alter ego Roman Zolanski.
Nicki Minaj nearly stole the show at the 2012 Grammy Awards when she performed her frenetic Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded track “Roman Holiday.” Rife with religious symbolism, the performance welcomed her alter ego Roman Zolanski to the Grammy stage for the first time. On Monday (February 13), Minaj called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to give her take on the red-hot performance.
“Well, [that religious character I walked the carpet with] is a major part of the story and the movie that I’m writing about one of my alter egos; his name is Roman,” she said. “Basically, the religious figure is there because he was called on by Roman’s mom [Martha] to rehabilitate him. I wasn’t going to do the red carpet, so you know I was backstage prepared ... my people wanted me to do it. I had this amazing robe made for me by Versace sent from Milan and I said, ‘I have to wear this.’ They were so generous, and I was going to originally wear it in the performance, but then when I got it, it was a little heavy for the performance.
“I had this vision for Roman. I had this vision for him to be sort of exorcised. ... People around tell him he’s not good enough because he’s not normal. So his mother is scared and the people around him are afraid. He wanted to show that not only is he amazing, but he’s never going to be exorcised, even when they throw holy water on him, he still rises above.” In fact, when MTV News caught up with Minaj in late 2011, she shared the origins of this particular plotline. “Well, he was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there,” she said. “So they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying to rehabilitate him.”
Minaj told Seacrest that she feels the performance, choreographed by Laurieann Gibson and directed by Hype Williams, was a success. “It’s funny because it was the most comfortable I’ve been in my entire life,” she said. “The Grammys chose ‘Roman Holiday.’ They heard ‘Roman Holiday’ and I could not play them another record after that. I have to stay true to what I’m doing ... My fanbase, they understand every single thing. Roman was created two years ago. I’ve been writing the story for a long time and yesterday was his coming-out party. It just was very literal and streamlined if you know who Roman is and if you don’t know the Roman character, you have to digest it.”

After "Chris Gaines", you would think these people would stop doing the "alter ego" thing.
She is the trash of a trash culture.
I cannot believe what passes for talent these days.
The Grammys should just change the name to An Assortment of Absolute Talentless Idiots Gathered Together Celebrating a Steaming Pile of Sh*t.
Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known by her stage name Nicki Minaj , is a Trinidadian-born American musician. She was born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to the New York borough of Queens when she was five.
According to Minaj, her father drank heavily, took drugs, and once tried to kill her mother by setting the house on fire.
In August 2009, Minaj signed a record deal with Young Money Entertainment, with distribution from Universal Motown Records, after fellow American rapper Lil Wayne discovered her and secured the record deal.
In an interview with Vibe Minaj discussed her sexual image stating, “[w]hen I grew up I saw females doing certain things, and I thought I had to do that exactly. The female rappers of my day spoke about sex a lot... and I thought that to have the success they got, I would have to represent the same thing. When in fact I didnt have to represent the same thing.”
Minaj has a tattoo in Chinese characters that reads (shangdi yu ni chang zai) on her left arm, meaning, “God is always with you.”
While growing up, Minaj’s home life was often chaotic, with her parents constantly fighting. As a means of escape, she would create characters and live her life through them. In an interview with New York she stated, “To get away from all their fighting, I would imagine being a new person. ‘Cookie’ was my first identity that stayed with me for a while. I went on to ‘Harajuku Barbie,’ then ‘Nicki Minaj’. Fantasy was my reality.
While some songs and interviews have implied that Minaj is bisexual,[64][65] she has said that she does not date nor have sex with women,[15] but added in an interview with Out magazine, “I dont date men either.”[66] In an interview with Vibe she commented, “I just embrace all people of all lifestyles and I dont tell them they are bad people. And I say girls are beautiful and girls are sexy and they need to be told that, and if they dont have anyone to tell them that and mean it, Im gonna tell them that. But I feel like people always wanna define me and I dont wanna be defined.” She reiterated her dislike of being labeled in an interview with Out, saying: “The point is, everyone is not black and white. There are so many shades in the middle, and youve got to let people feel comfortable with saying what they want to say when they want to say it.”
During an interview in the May 2010 issue of Details, Minaj was asked if she felt hip-hop was becoming more gay-friendly. She responded, “I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is too. But it’s harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced, people view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we’ll see one in my lifetime.”
On July 2011, Minaj’s cousin Nicholas was murdered near his home in Brooklyn, New York City.
