Whitney Houston might have passed away Saturday, but it’s clear her fans will always love the legendary singer. Not surprisingly, news of her death catapulted some of her greatest hits to the top of the music charts today. On iTunes, Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” is currently the No. 1 download, while “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is finding a place in the top 10.

Good thing I don’t even listen to anything on the radio except news/talk, we’re going to be inundated with Whitney-music for at least a couple of weeks.

I don’t understand why her death should be posted here. She’s just another Hollyweird entertainer that ruined their life with drugs, alcohol, and all the other junk those goes with that crowd. As a result she thrashed and trashed her God-given beauty and voice.

Have you seen MacCauly Culkin lately? Definitely qualifies for my FR Deadpool list for this year!

We really should post the deaths of people who had made it into the public eye but still lived consistent and Godly lives.

Her daughter was rushed to the hospital this morning and was treated for anxiety.

It will be interesting to see what kind of bump Barry the Kenyan Guy is going to get in the polls by exploiting her death.

Just today I heard her (knowingly) for the first time in my deep discount grocery store. She had a set of pipes, true, and a hysterical, operatic, uncontrolled style of singing. She was literally screaming in that song blasted from the ceiling. Yuck! Some listeners like it, OK.

Why her passing deserves a dozen threads on this forum is beyond me.

Why wait until you ascend the golden staircase to sing your praises?

I recently read an interview with Dolly in which she said that keeping 100% ownership of all the songs she’s written was the key element in her financial success.

I have always loved this song of Dolly Parton as well as others.

And I always detested the way Whitney Houston took Dolly’s song and tortured it.

Whitney Houston did have great talent - absolutely not my cup of tea at all, (my tastes run more toward Haggard, Jones, Cash, Trace Atkins and Blake & Miranda), but she had great talent.
And yes, I agree she BUTCHERED Dolly’s “I Will Always Love You”. Her acting “skills” were mediocre at best. She was self-absorbed and conusumed with her “diva” image.
It is sad that she died before getting clean and right.
Now, how long are we going to be barraged by the media “mourning” her death?
Brave soldiers and Marines are fighting, bleeding and dying for our freedom and yet all this “grief” over Houston’s passing.

"IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII will always love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

Like FINGERNAILS on a CHALKBOARD! I always hoped she would marry some rich sheik who would take her to luxurious palace, far away from any microphones, and she would live there happily and quietly for the rest of her life.

I downloaded a copy for my 14 year old daughter to listen to...she had no idea who Whitney Houston was. I still think she had a wonderful voice - and she showed it at the beginning of ‘I will always love you’ - before she goes into her loud, ‘listen to me I’m a diva’ wailing.

She is also a good caution on how success uncoupled from morality is a disaster.

“I don’t understand why her death should be posted here.”

Because she was one of our greatest singing talent in our generation.

Tone deaf folks will never understand this. Hence, they need not bother to comment/reply.

“Whitney Houston to star in her new film. The Bodybag.”

That is very sick and nasty on your part.

I will remember that when you die.

She inspired a whole generation of over-singers. And now everybody feels like they have to outdo her Star Spangled Banner performance, instead of singing it straight up like it should be.

She killed herself with drugs and alcohol and she also ruined her voice. No need to idolize a woman who drove her her of self-destruction into the grave.
