The Giants backed into that victory...literally :o) --
The announcers had been remarking about that sideline catch that was ruled in-bounds, as "a play you will tell your kids about." I remarked to my son that No, the plays that are remembered are the BAD ones, not the good ones.
Can you recall, ever, a team NOT wanting the touchdown? And then, piling irony on top of bizarre, the team made the touchdown by accident?

It looked to me like the Patriots let the Giants score, to get the ball back with more time on the clock.

And it was a close one—that three point shot right at the buzzer sealed it. Yaaaaayyyyyy! It was so exciting, my plugs stopped griping me. Disneyland is in Oakland, right?
What day is it again?

I’ve watched football for 35 years and I’ve never seen a safety called by that means. It makes sense, though as a rule. Otherwise Brady would have been sacked and it would have been a safety regardless.

—— I have never seen that kind of incomplete pass called intentional grounding.-—
There wasn’t a receiver within 20 yards and he was in his end zone..
It was a good call and glad it was called because Brady probably thought he could get away with it.....and didn’t

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease, Even Brady in his Post Game Presser said he had to get rid of the ball because he was about to get hit.
Even if it was a bad call, they had 3+ quarters to make up 2 points. Get Real.

I’m a “hugh” Cowboys fan and I was CHEERING for the Giants to win! I’m glad the Patriots lost, and forgive me Mr. Landry.

Brady looked like he was going to cry. Perhaps his wifey will send out another email asking for more support. I be Bridget Moynihan was laffing her ass off when the Hail Mary bounced incomplete in the end zone ...

“Fix?” There were 2 times at the end of the game that the clock was allowed to run after the play was whistled dead.
Even after the second one, Chris Collingsworth noted that the clock continued to run. In the NFL, a few seconds could mean one more or less play.

They did. One object of the play, from the Giants' point of view was to NOT score. That's strange in its own right, but that was the strategy (and it was a good one). I can't recall any other game where the team in possession was "going" for a TD, but didn't want it - then made it (accidently), even though it was not what they wanted.
Very memorable play.

You don’t think Newt’s wanting the Giants to win had anything to do with his chief opponent’s home state do you?
