I guess I was kinda hoping that the Patriots would win today and in November.

BTW, Brady should have been called for Intentional Grounding back in SB 36 against STL when he was about to be sacked on that last drive and threw the ball downfield to no one to avoid a sack while between the Tackles, but it wasn’t called - the Rams coaches and players on the sideline were absolutely livid that it wasn’t called when it should have been.

And if it was, NE doesn’t kick the game-winning FG and the SB goes to OT

Then years later, it comes out that the Pats taped the Rams pre-game walk thru. In other words, they taped the plays that the Rams would run.

Even Marshall Faulk said “They (The Patriots on Defense) were calling out our Offensive plays pre-snap during the game.”

The NFL subsequently fined the Pats 500k and took away a 1st round draft pick from the Pats, who can’t seem to win the big one without cheating.

The Rams beat the Pats in Foxboro 6 weeks earlier on a Sunday nite nationally televised game fairly easily, yet when they meet in SB36, the Pats suddenly have ESP and know what plays the Rams are going to run before they run them, resulting in the biggest upset in SB history.

Brady threw for a mere 168 yards, yet they won the SB in a huge upset, and the ref turned a blind eye to a blatant Intentional Grounding on the last drive.

Only years later it would come out that the Pats illegally taped the Rams pre-game walk thru, which is basically the plays that they are going to run in the game and the Pats were fined and had draft picks taken away.

The NFL got their hands on the tape, viewed it, then destroyed it. Yes, they destroyed the only copy of the tape.

Why?

If the public had seen it, they would have realized that the outcome of the game was most likely compromised and the public would be very hesitant to ever place a wager in Vegas on an NFL game again, or even watch a game on TV

Why destroy the tape if it was as benign as the NFL claimed?
Because it wasn’t.

The Pats cheated then and did so in subsequent games and SB’s.

Once they couldn’t cheat, they couldn’t win a SB

Eli > Brady

And then there’s the “tuck” rule that got them into SB36 which was also a farce.

The Pats are as crooked as the 49ers and Eddie D, who was caught bribing the Governor of Louisiana with 400k in cash for a Riverboat gambling license and turned state/federal evidence to save his slimy rear end.

Another team, the 49ers, that had draft picks taken away.
They were caught cheating the salary cap and paying players cash under the table.

F*** New England and F*** San Francisco - two corrupt organizations that should be barred from the NFL, not just fined and have draft picks taken away.

These two organizations give the NFL a bad name and should be suspended from the league or should have been punished much more severely.

The Pats and the 49ers possibly won SB’s by cheating while other teams played by the rules.

I was so glad to see NY win and to see the sour look on Bellicheats face after the game. He looked like he was sucking on lemons all game.

To clear things up, the Giants did not want to score a TD at the end of the game.

They wanted to run the game clock down to about :12 and kick the game winning field goal on 3rd down.

The reason you do so with :12 is if you have a penalty, there are certain penalties that result in a 10 second runoff, so you don’t want to lose like that, especially a Super Bowl by committing a penalty resulting in a 10 second runoff which would end the game and result in a loss.

I’ve seen it happen where a team is in a position to win a game with a FG, commits a penalty that falls in that category and they lose due to the 10 second runoff rule.

You also want to kick on 3rd down in case of a bad snap.

That way, you can spike the ball or throw it thru the back of the end zone and you still have 4th down and still have a few seconds left to kick the game winning field goal.

The Giants had no intention of scoring a TD, but the momentum of the runner carried him into the end zone, giving NE :57 seconds left to drive down and score a TD

Ideally, you just run the ball and let the clock run down to about :12 and kick on 3rd down for the reasons I described above.

The Patriots did let them score a TD on purpose so they could get the ball back with a little time.

That’s why the NY Giants RB tried to stop at the goal line, but his momentum carried him into the end zone.

I like your screen name!

Remember that a lot of drinking goes on during Superbowl Sunday, and there are always a few people that like to rant on about something.

Here's a good thread for you that was posted just after this one, and it supports the goals of Free Republic. Enjoy...

Maybe the worst SuperBowl Champion ever in one of the most boring SBs ever.

It was the right call. He was in the pocket and launched it to avoid the sack.

With the heavy drinking that goes on during the SB, this stuff comes as no surprise. Also got to remember that cheating goes on across the board in the NFL in general, not just with one team or coach, period.

Want some cheese with that whine?
Why don’t you say that to the site owner instead of regular posters?
Not brave enough to do that?

I see you two woke up enough to snark on this thread.
Grow up yourselves.
While you’re at it, how about supporting FR instead of snarking?
Nobody forced either of you two to click on the thread and offend your delicate sensibilities.

Plus there has been cheating across the board in the NFL anyways.

“I have never seen that kind of incomplete pass called intentional grounding.”

Yeah, I thought that was a bit of an odd call. But hubby said it was legit. He was also thrilled because he had said “let’s get 2” and, lol, they did.

She still remembers the game when the Pats had a man on the grounds crew use the snow removal machine to clean off a spot for the potentially game winning field goal.

I remember that also.
Haven't had any use for the Patriots since. The Belichick incident simply reinforced that feeling.

I like NFL but am not bonkers over it. And don't really care who wins most games.
However I root for any team playing the Patriots.

Back before the season began, Las Vegas oddsmakers put it 80-to-1 against the Giants winning the Super Bowl. A LOT of people took that bet and now Las Vegas has to pay up.

Karma for Nevada voting Romney?
