A minor brawl over using a public toilet ended up in the death of a 26-year-old man in Mahim. The deceased, Simon Lingeree, was a resident of the Devaji Govind Chawl at Mahim Causeway. The police has arrested one Santosh Kargutkar (40) for his murder and has been remanded to police custody. Kargutkar, is also a resident of the same chawl and was acquainted with the victim.
On Saturday at around 7pm Lingeree went to use the public bathroom in the area. Kargutkar was standing in queue to use the loo and started to grow impatient as Lingeree had been in the bathroom for a while. When Lingeree finally came out of the bathroom the two got into a heated argument.
"It first started off as a war of words but Kargutkar soon assaulted Lingeree. The two of them got involved in a physical duel but there were no weapons involved," said Ramrao Desai, senior police inspector, Mahim Police station.
Unfortunately, Kargutkar struck Lingeree at a sensitive point in the head and he lost consciousness. Police said that at this point Kargutkar fled the scene. The victim was rushed to Bhabha Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a post mortem. "Prima facie it seems that the man died because of some internal injury he got during the fight. Based on eye witness accounts we were able to identify the accused and track him down in a few hours," said Desai.
Residents of the chawl were up in arms against the administration for lack of civic amenities. "We have absolutely no public sanitation facilities. Sometimes basic human needs take over all rationale and this is what has happened today. It is a tragedy that two lives have been destroyed over such a petty issue. The government must take note of this," said Rajesh Paswan, student from the chawl.
Lingeree’s lingering caused Kargutkar to kill him. Can’t make that up.
"I don't approve...but I UNDERSTAND."
Simon Legree?
Loo’s don’t kill people, people who really have to go kill people.
That same thing happened to this guy on my block. And he never shoveled the snow in front of his house either. I guess you could say he was a rebel.
Getting to a toilet can be a very serious matter in India. Something quite a few travelers know from first hand experience.
Oy.
I once heard an impatient guy waiting in line in the Yankee Stadium bathroom say to a guy who was trying to go: “Hey buddy, are you taking a leak, or draining all the blood out of your body?” Pretty funny!
Lou Rawls!
Lingeree lingers in Loo, loses life.
Funny..nowhere in the story does it say that the perp actually got into the “loo”. The victim came out, they got into a fight, perp fled.
See, if I’m waiting to get into a facility, no matter how much time the guy ahead of me takes of whether that ticks me off, when he’s out, I’m in and doing my business, not standing around aguing or throwing down.
So I’m thinking this guy didn’t have to go that bad...
...and if he didn’t need to go that bad, why have a fight about it...
...I’m just sayin’.

(Many thanks for restoring my mojo, which had taken a grievous hit from a First Lady/lingerie post.)
You know, if I need to go that bad, I’ll run off and find a dumpster or something to do my business behind.
who among us has not considered this, in time of need?
Maybe he had 15 minutes to do the triple S before he was out the door for work.
More than 200 Jamaica policemen fail polygraph
Snip: Assistant Police Commissioner Justin Felice said Friday that was 60 percent of the 362 officers who underwent the tests. He doesn't say whether the officers who failed will be disciplined in any way.
