(CNN) -- Robert Hegyes known for his role as Juan Epstein on the '70s sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter," died on Thursday. He was 60.
Hegyes was transported via ambulance from his home in Metuchen, New Jersey, Thursday morning, and was in full cardiac arrest by the time he reached the hospital, Steven Weiss, a spokesman for the JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey, confirmed to CNN.
"He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived there," Weiss said.
Hegyes' brother, Mark Hegyes, told The Star-Ledger that the actor had suffered a heart attack a couple of years ago and was not in good health.

GMA showed a clip from a recent awards ceremony when he was on stage. They guy looked really, really old with long white hair. I don’t think he was any older than about 61 or 62 was he?

Use to love watching “Welcome Back Kotter” when I was a kid !
Well that is a shocker! It made it to 1992! I stopped getting it sometime around 1983. I remember when “the Dukes of Hazzard” were on it!
My favorite thing was “Bummers” always began with “Don’t you hate.......”?
Oh yeah! Here were some of my favorites:
