46 million on foodstamps?! Holy cow.

From the 2010 census, this is a count of every man, woman and child living in the following states:

25,145,561 TX
4,533,372 LA
3,751,351 OK
2,915,918 AR
5,029,196 CO
2,853,118 KA
2,059,179 NM

Total - 46,287,695

I’m speechless. Someone check my math.

Your math is correct. That is a pretty big chunk of the country. You could make an even bigger chunk by replacing Texas with about 8 or 10 other large states.

Actually it is even worst than you think when you take into account that it is really heads of households that receive food stamps, not people per say. So a better compare would be the number of households in each state rather then just a head count of people.

To be more exact:

From the 2010 census, a count of every man, woman and child living in the following states:

25,145,561 TX
4,533,372 LA
3,751,351 OK
2,915,918 AR
5,029,196 CO
2,853,118 KA
2,059,179 NM

Total - 46,287,695

Just to make it more accurate and closer to the 46 million people on food stamps, we’ll subtract some people in the following Texas towns:

-229,573 Lubbock (Buddy Holly lives.)
-46,936 Pfugerville (Don’t you just love that name?)
-10,906 Sweetwater (Home of the World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up :)

= 287,415 self-sustaining people subtracted from the 46,287,695 in the above states = 46,000,280

(There’s probably about 280 people living in Cut & Shoot if we wanna get technical. :)

Sounds about right.

Another interesting point is that to truly understand employment, you have to total all of the people who are able to work and then total all those that are actually paying into unemployment. Then deduct the latter from the former to calculate the unemployment. While this does not account for those working illegally, it is a better fiscal picture of unemployment in terms of how much tax revenue the system is taking in in order to pay for those out of work.

Follow the postings of TKWallace at MarketWatch. He is great for coming up with economic facts and figures like this...figures the government and especially Obammie and his Commies don’t want us to know about. He also figures that true unemployment is about 11%. The current 8.5% number excludes the population increase that occurs every year through immigration and demographics, which he estimates at about 1.5 million per year historically. So, in order to determine the TOTAL jobs lost/NOT created, you have to factor those in. When you do so, you find out that Obammie the Commie’s anti-American and anti-middle-class policies are responsible for the destruction/non-creation of app. 12 million jobs.

His research is often posted by Mish at his blot at globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com
